advise on growing bannanas appreciated

hello,

i would appreciate some advice please. i have just purchased a bannana plant
(here in the uk) and i was wondering what the best conditions are for
growing it. currently its in my glasshouse with full sun and an average
daily temp of 90-100
degrees. All advice would be appreciated.

also i am trying to find out the best way of growing a chinese goosberry
(kiwi) vine any ideas?

Keep it frost free and in as much light as possible. Banana does
fruit at Achilyibuie (NW Scotland), but it's got to get enough lighr
(but make sure you don't burn it), If you don't get fruit, you can
use the leaves as substitute to aliminum foil.

Hi John,

Good luck with bananas in the UK. I had trouble growing them in Sydney.

Re the kiwifruit, you must make sure you have a male and a female plant (no I am
not joking!!!) Otherwise, they need fairly normal conditions - good soil, lots
of compost, exactly the right amount of water, just like every other garden
plant!

I am a banana grower in Darwin. As long as your tree get lots of light and
warmth (above 18c) most of the time you shouldn't have a problem. The main
thing is don't under water, BUT don't over water either. Also the love
potassium. We use a product called Langbenite. I think that's how you spell
it. Its an organic based potassium and has a great slow release character.
