Can anyone suggest a way to kill off moss on a tennis court or path of red
gravel without discolouring it ? A non toxic chemical would be preferred.

Thanks in anticipation. John S

Copper solutions are known to be toxic to algae, I make my own algae
killers for the pool sometimes using copper based solutions. For a
tennis court a cheap chemical like Copper Sulphate would probably work,
and have minimal toxicity to humans or animals.

Moss isn't algae of course, but I suspect the chemistry would still be
more or less the same, and the moss would die.

Bleach is recommended for removing moss/lichen from rooves (roofs?).
It is relatively harmless to the environment, and shouldn't discolor
the gravel. Ferrous sulphate is recommended for moss in lawns, but
would probably leave a rusty stain.

I thouhgt of another one, it is midly toxic, but all toxicity is about
shades of grey...

Pool Chlorine, or bleach.

Make sure that the tennis court material (it is plastic right?) won't be
damaged by the chlorine and then go for it.

En Tout Cas is the red gravel used for tennis courts. Don't know about bleach
but the ferrous sulphate (sulphate of iron) approach should work okay. Treat as
you would for moss in the lawn.
