Hi,
I have stone fruits and guava trees and its fruits are regularly spoilt due
to fruit fly. I have posted some advice sometime back on how to control it
and someone suggest using a fruit fly wick, just wondering where one get it
in syd (west).

Thanks

Out of curiousity, what do fruit flies look like? I've been looking around
on the web but as yet haven't found any pictures

I have reread my original posting and it ia a bit miss leading, I should
have said that I have asked advised on how to get rid of fruit flies, not I
have given advised on how to get rid of fruit fly.

I have not captured a fruit fly but have seen the effect where the fruit is
spoilt prior to reaching its maturity, or when it reached maturity it is
filled with maggots, so it becomes quite unappetising.

g'day,

the wicks can be bought from produce agencies i don't know if there is
exactly one in your neighbourhood but check in the yellow pages they
will list them. the wicks only work on the males.

i usually hang traps to catch the females as well, the brand of wick
we used was made on the sunshine coast i think it seemed to work
better than the other brand.

i have some fruit fly recipes on this page:

Thanks Len, it aint fruit fly I saw in my garden then.. what I saw was a
small, brown, furry looking fly-like critter on my Mandarin tree (it's
covered in new growth & flower buds, but no fruit as yet)

Any ideas?
