Hello everyone.
A short while back I posted a message about Gardenias looking sick.
Basically the reply was that the pH is wrong due to the clay soil. This was
after I gave the information that they were looking a bit dead, and wilted.
Also mentioning that Murrayas were doing fine
Today we tested the pH. It ranged between 6.2 to just over 7.
Checked moisture too, it varied from dry to wet.
So now we don't know.
A group of about 10 plants are dead, in the one area. On other parts around
the pro shop, we litterally have a dead, or near dead plant, within 2metres
of a perfect Gardenia. pH and Moisture seeming to be consitent.
Another section, not one is dead, with pH and moisture, again, not seeming
to play a role.
So on further inspection it's like this:
Some plants are basically bare, lucky to be 10 (dead leaves left), plants
being a foot high.
Others are showing the leaves starting to die, from the tip of the leaf,
back. e.g. 1/4 of the leaf will be brown and crispy, 3/4 green, but a little
curled.
Some leaves that have dieback, also have brown dots on them, showing on both
sides of the leaf.
We are at a loss to what it is. Any chance it's a fungus??
Thanks all.
P.S. On top of that, we have 4 Gardenias in 6 inch pots in the Nursery, they
also have it. They have been there for about 6weeks. We are thinking the
supplier may be giving us infected stock???
