A little know TV show about gaming by hardcore gamers, originally on ABC2 ,
slowly chugs along entertaining informing ends up creating a huge following
.
Then comes some ABC management wanker and decides we have to have "wider
appeal", "how do we do that? I know we get an air head bimbo blond from
central casting to act as a hard core gamer with hip credentials".
They just don't get it, It was the presenter they shafted that made the show
with his years of gaming experience, without that sort of experience there
is no show.
I wonder what the ABC management is going to do next, have a show about
"medical procedures" and have the photogenic actors who once upon a time
played doctors in soaps giving medical advice ?
This is typical of the ABC management bureaucracy GONE MAD, they just don't
get it.
They don't understand the chemistry that made this show work, and the street
cred. It had with the target audience.
ABC's typical white bred conservative 1950's view of Australia (which is no
longer), and the "management" will continue to make POOR judgement like
this because the management don't represent broader community.
It taints all that they do and are on their way to destroying that little
alternative we have to commercial media crap, by a pack of north shore
twits.
It is apparent with the types of people we see get their heads on TV(eg.
see Hungry beast)., or get on ABC radio where every second announcer has a
UK accent. Why is that , is there still the cultural cringe at Aunty?
If they are trying to balance some "equal employer" obligation by having a
girl on the show, why don't they go further and address the bigger problem
of the lack of non Anglo presenters on locally produced shows.
How about being more reflective of the society you represent and give others
like the indigenous people more airtime on the national broadcaster, hey,
there's a novel idea. How about you brainiac management types fly that up a
flag pole, and see if it flutters?
It's about time they got with it and accept the fact of Australia has
changed and they don't always have to have "girl-boy" combo to tick all the
political correct boxes
The ABC doesn't recognise that their beige view of society has long gone,
(along with their Johnny Howard).
.
If it weren't broke why fix it?

Does anyone _care_ what they have to say,
as long as the `twins` come out to play ... ?
