Calling all chefs with a conscience!

Taste of the Nation Food and Wine Festival
Saturday October 7, from 12 noon - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane & Perth.

Community Aid Abroad Oxfam Australia is asking Australia's top chefs,
wine makers and restauranteurs to be part of a food and wine festival
for a great cause.

Taste of the Nation, the popular outdoor festival now in its fourth
year, will be held in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane on Saturday
October 7, 2000. All proceeds go to Community Aid Abroad Oxfam
Australia's work with poor communities in 30 countries around the world
and in Indigenous Australia.

Now is the time for restaurants, wineries and gourmet food producers to
get involved, all they need to do is call Community Aid Abroad in their
city.

National Event Coordinator Jimmy Baeck said: "It is a great chance for
those in the food and wine industry to showcase their talents and
products to a wide audience. In 1999 over 20,000 people enjoyed Taste of
the Nation around Australia, raising more than $300,000 for Community
Aid Abroad Oxfam Australia."

Major wineries, restaurants and gourmet food producers donate their
products and skills to Taste of the Nation, enabling people to enjoy
delicious meals for a mere $5/$6 per plate. Glasses of Australia's
finest wines and beers are available for $3, donated by a broad range of
wineries and brewers.

A highlight of the event in each city is the Giant Auction. The services
of Stella restaurant's chef, Ian Curly, were auctioned at Melbourne's
Taste of the Nation in 1999. The successful bidder was treated to a
gourmet dinner party for eight people in their own home.

This year food connoisseurs in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth can also
enjoy a Taste of the Nation Gala Dinner in October. The inaugural Gala
Dinner was held in 1999 at the Millennium Hotel, Sydney. Two hundred
people were presented the best of contemporary Chinese and Western
cuisine, with the dinner featuring six unique courses prepared by six
chefs. All proceeds will go to Community Aid Abroad Oxfam Australia.
