The drought and lower water levers have revealed that the Coorong is
indeed an ancient Phoenician "heavy mineral sands" / tin / cassiterite
mine , that is over 100 km long and a km wide , that was used to
farm Murex snails to produce purple dye over 3000 years ago after the
sand was mined for heavy minerals , , as well as the gold mining in
the nearby mountains as described in the Turin gold map

It will take a while for the experts to admit it , but it is beyond
any doubt more evidence of the early contact the Phoenician traders
had in South Australia

H.Y.L. Brown was appointed the first Government Geologist. Travelling
by camel, often under considerable hardship, he undertook extensive
fieldwork which resulted in the first geological maps of South
Australia. Early editions of the map in 1883 and 1886 were superseded
in 1899 by a State geological map at a scale of sixteen miles to the
inch. This map, still broadly accurate, was the foundation of future
geological work.

British museum scientists discovered that from 1000 BC onwards
eucalyptus resin was employed in the embalming of the dead in Egypt.
Eucalyptus was only found in Australia and New Guinea at that time.
The tomb of a woman was uncovered in Feb 1964 in the Jordan Valley
using Euc. Resin. Boomerangs have been found in the tombs of Egyptian
kings and queens. They were introduced around 100 BC.

In West Iran, archaeologists have discovered the remains of earthworks
and irrigation channels & other structures extending for 50 miles
suggesting an extensive earth works were common. The amount of
Phoenician and other relics being dug up there suggest the colony
existed around 3000 years ago. The approx. time of the South

But it was the seafaring nation of traders, the Phoenicians, who were
destined to become irrevocably linked with murex purple dye.
The name “Phoenician”—and “phoenix,” the legendary bird reborn in
the flames— is derived from the Greek phoinix, meaning “purple-
red.” (Murex comes to us from Latin, derived from the Greek muax, or
“purple fish.”)

It was the Phoenicians who developed and promoted the Mediterranean
murex market. Herodotus tells us that Tyre, built on an island and the
neighboring mainland, was founded in 2759 BC. Archeology supports this
as a roughly probable date for the settlement in south Australia. The
geography of their long, narrow country, with its high mountains
sloping toward the coastal plain, made the Phoenicians look naturally
outward to the sea.
.
BRITISH MUSEUM
Dye formulae of many kinds were widely known by the time this
cuneiform tablet was inscribed in the seventh century bc near Babylon,
now in Iraq. It describes the dyeing of wool to shades of “lapis-
lazuli,” which was apparently an attempt to imitate murex.

The sea meant trade, and by the eighth century BC, the Phoenicians
were established as traders, craftsmen and daring seafarers, and
Phoenician sarcophagi depict wealthy businessmen. Perhaps because good
business required efficient accounting, the Phoenicians invented an
alphabet which was passed on to and adapted by the Greeks—and which
became the origin of our own today.

Phoenician vessels traveled as far as the British Isles, where they
traded for tin in Cornwall and tin, gold, silver and copper in
Spain.there is no reason they could not have sailed anywhere on earth
with ease , for a long time historians assumed everything of any value
could be found very locally , but 3 years sea voyages are often
referred to and indicate world wide trade was probable , trading more
than conquering and the traded goods can be seen as luxury items in
the ancient world

All around the Mediterranean there are wide stretches of beaches
composed of crushed murex shells, silent witnesses to the geographical
scope and longevity of the Phoenician dyeing industry. One famous
Phoenician dye-works was near Cadiz, in the south of Spain; others
were in present-day Tunisia, where Carthage was a Phoenician colony.
At all these sites, the shellfish were crushed, and the pigment
extracted, processed, mixed and used. Gravestones of “purple
merchants” (purpurarii or negotiatores artis purpurariae) often show a
set of scales or hanks of yarn, indicating that here too yarn was dyed
before weaving, enabling it to be used for woven patterns and
embroidery.

similar large piles of shells can be seen in South Australia and Murex
snails are very common ,though they were probably shipped live to
central processing centers

Muricidae, common names murex snails or rock snails, is a large and
varied taxonomic family of small to large predatory sea snails. At
least 1,000 species of muricids are known, and there are numerous
subfamilies.

STATE HERMITAGE MUSEUM
The oldest known murex-dyed textile is a fine wool tapestry woven
during the fifth to fourth centuries bc in Persia. Originally a
garment, it was later adapted—in a well-worn condition—as a felt-lined
horse trapping, which was buried with its owner.
.
On the supply end, the “marriage” of silk and murex may have occurred
relatively early.

Strands of Chinese silk—the remains of a decorative net, —have been
identified in the hair of an Egyptian mummy dating from 1000 BC, long
before an established trade network is thought to have existed—a
reminder of the importance of keeping an open mind to the reassessment
of historical knowledge.

The East–West land and maritime routes that became known as the
Silk Roads are generally considered to have been “opened up” during
the time of the Han and the Roman Empires, but already during the
sixth century BC and probably long before the trade between China and
Ancient Brittani indicate Phoenicians could trade anything of value
from anywhere

Note that heavy mineral sands are being mined in the ancient stranded
beach sands , even today in South Australia , inland from this
site ,

If it is profitable to recover heavy minerals from beach sands
today , why would it not have been done in ancient times , strip
mining beach sands is far easier than hard rock mining quartz
.
South Australian deposits

No heavy mineral deposits are currently mined in South Australia but
exploration has highlighted the prospectivity of the Murray and Eucla
Basins, and several deposits are in an advanced exploration stage.

Murray Basin

The Early Pliocene Loxton Sand and overlying Parilla Sand formations
have been the target of mineral sand exploration in the Murray Basin.

During the 1980s one of the world’s largest accumulations of heavy
minerals was delineated by drilling in the basin

In 1986–87, Aberfoyle Resources Ltd drilled the Mindarie, Perponda and
Mercunda prospects near Karoonda just inland from the coorong in South
Australia, where heavy minerals have accumulated in northwest–
southeast-trending Pliocene strandlines. A renewed phase of
exploration commenced in 1998, with Murray Basin Minerals NL defining
11 mineralised strandlines in the Karoonda area (Fig. 2). In September
2000, the company announced the results of a first-stage feasibility
study based on a resource of 65.6 Mt containing 3.3% heavy minerals

Phoenicians were experts at metallurgy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallurgical_engineering

Silver, copper, tin and meteoric iron can also be found native,
allowing a limited amount of metalworking in early cultures. Egyptian
weapons made from meteoric iron in about 3000 B.C. were highly prized
as "Daggers from Heaven"[2]. However, by learning to get copper and
tin by heating rocks and combining those two metals to make an alloy
called bronze, the technology of metallurgy began about 3500 B.C. with
the Bronze Age.

The extraction of iron from its ore into a workable metal is much more
difficult. It appears to have been invented by the Hittites in about
1200 B.C., beginning the Iron Age. The secret of extracting and
working iron was a key factor in the success of the Philistines.[3][4]

Cassiterite is a tin oxide mineral, SnO2. It is generally opaque but
is translucent in thin crystals. Its luster and multiple crystal faces
produce a desirable gem. Cassiterite is the chief ore of tin today.

Most sources of cassiterite today are found in alluvial or placer
deposits containing the resistant weathered grains

The black grains seen in the Kangarooistan "old iron tool "
conglomerate are cassiterite / tin , as used to add to copper to make
Bronze
http://picasaweb.google.com/kangarooistan9/KangarooistanOldIronToolProofTurinPapyrusGoldMineIsInSouthAustraliaTestImages#5335998821973788498

Cassiterite is a tin oxide mineral, SnO2.

site of heavy mineral mining in South Australia was Morrison Beach on
the north coast of Kangaroo Island where 1200 t of rutile and 190 t of
zircon were mined by Minoil Services Pty Ltd between 1971 and 1976
(Morris, 1986).

Drilling for construction sand along the eastern margin of the Golden
Grove Embayment by the former Department of Mines in 1975 discovered
heavy minerals within lacustrine sand of the Middle Eocene North
Maslin Sand.
The mineral suite comprises rutile, zircon, ilmenite and monazite
sourced from Adelaidean quartzite, slate, schist and pegmatite, and
Barossa Complex schist, gneiss and pegmatite. The resource is inferred
to contain ~26 000 t of ilmenite and altered ilmenite, 39 000 t of
rutile and 32 000 t of zircon. This modest resource may eventually be
exploited

IfPhoenetian miners were in the area they WOULD have mined this most
sought after mineral

I claim the DID

I claim the Coorong is an ancient mine site where mineral sands were
mined , and the resultant long thin water course was then used to farm
Murex snails after the miners slowly moved along the coast over
several thousands of years

That we today call the Coorong , is clearly an ancient Phoenician
strip mine , after tin or other heave y minerals , that was then used
to grow murex snails , to make " purple dye " and the mine nearby was
indeed the mine in the mountains just inland , as shown in the Turin
Papyrus

An examination of these sites can show clear evidence of VAST man made
features , of mining and maritime peoples a very long time ago , that
seem to be after minerals and Murex snails , the local Aboriginal
peoples seem to not use but may have traded them

What Happened To The Internet Jihad?

February 8, 2009: Nearly a decade of warning about Islamic terrorists using
the Internet to launch attacks has come to nothing. At most, there have been
some defacing of web pages, often by hackers driven more by nationalism than
religion. The Internet Jihad (struggle) has been mostly smoke, and very
little fire.
Attempts by terrorists to recruit hackers have had very poor results. There
are a growing number of programmers and Internet specialists in the Moslem
world, but most of them have legitimate jobs in software firms, or
maintaining software and Internet services for companies. Some are involved
with Internet crime, and a very few spend some time trying to get some
Internet based terrorism going. But nearly all the Moslem blackhats
(criminal hackers) are reluctant to get on a terrorism watch list, or worse,
by joining some terrorist outfit. Moreover, Islamic terrorists recruit
mainly from the young and clueless (and angry and unemployed). Internet
penetration in the Islamic world is very low, as is literacy itself. The
Islamic cyber threat is largely fiction, because the potential pool of
Islamic Internet Jihadis is so tiny.

This is somewhat surprising, as there are Cyber War tools available that
even the poorly educated terrorist computer user could operate. For example,
there's a software program that online gamers use to launch DDOS
(Distributed Denial of Service) attacks on other players they are
particularly angry with. DDOS is used to shut down a web site, or individual
users Internet access, with a flood of garbage messages, generated from as
few as fifty of "zombie PCs" (machines hackers have earlier seized control
of).
Some bot herders (those who control hundreds, or thousands, of zombies)
will rent zombies for these small scale DDOS attacks. The going rate is two
dollars a day per zombie (fifty will usually do to shut down one persons
Internet access). Several thousand zombies are needed to shut down a web
site, and criminals use that many to blackmail online businesses. This sort
of thing happens every day, but it is rarely used by Islamic terrorists.

Counter-terrorism organizations know why there have not been more of these
attacks by al Qaeda, or any other self-proclaimed Islamic warriors. The fact
is that the Islamic terrorists are not nearly as well organized or skilled
as the mass media would lead you to believe. There are many types of
attacks, not just those involving the Internet, that terrorists could carry
out, but don't. It doesn't happen because the terrorists cannot get it
together sufficiently to do it. That should tell you something. The
potential is there, and that is scary. But the reality has to be recognized
as well, and that's a lot less scary.

Hi Sir Jean-Paul Turcaud

Sadly mate even kanga FAILED to notice the BLEEDING obvious

The River Murray has flowed for many millions of years , at least 6
million in its present place

There are visible Heavy Mineral Sands HMS visible in all the ancient
inland stranded ancient beaches of long ago

BUT very few at the present mouth WHERE THEY SHOULD BE MOST ABUNDANT

WHY , there can be only one answer , somebody already MINED the HMS at
the mouth of the Murray and as far inland as they could carry the
sands to waters edge to gravity separate it

The Phoenicians mine the area for easy won alluvial HMS over 3000
years ago and CREATED the lower Murray lakes AND the coorong as the
extracted the HMS built up over millions of years

The ENTIRE lower Murray lakes and Coorong system is an ANCIENT mine
site mate

Even KANGA failed to notice it until I and my sons discovered the
ancient iron tool and the Turin Papyrus gold mine

ANY competent geologist only need look at a good map and ask , WHERE
ARE THE HMS that should beat the mouth and spread along the beach down
tidal drift from the mouth

ANY COMPETENT geologist will answer

SOMEBODY has mined the site and left only the hole , now filled with
water

OR start the HMS mining that MUST be there

Its now only a matter of time till even the university trained EXPERTS
are FORCED to admit kanga is right yet AGAIN

This throws new light on the debate about what to do about sea water
entering the 3000 year old man made lakes system , its NOT NATURAL ,
its man made and can only be Phoenician as is the gold mine 20 km
inland near Mount Barker

Jews and christians will reject the facts made , but there ARE HMS in
the older sands , where are the HMS from the last 6 million years,
SOMEBODY mined them , they left the HOLES

kanga

Hi Ms Wong , cant find an email address that works for the Minister

It may be worth you thinking about this IMHO

My name is Mal Fabian from Mount Barker

I and my sons have for many years enjoyed fossicking for minerals
in the state , as have my family for many generations , as History
week is upon us , I would like to inform you of my recent findings
that may soon break into the News cycle , and may impact on your pubic
roles , and may also be of general interest as well

Recently while examining an old mine site my sons and I discovered
a very interesting old iron tool , that LOOKS to be 3000 years old
and appears to have very old purple leather under it

it sure does LOOK like a 3000 year old iron tool stuck in a rock , on
top of ancient purple leather with Oche surrounded by local gravel all
cemented into a lump of conglomerate , it is still " as found " bar
washing with water , and is genuine
http://picasaweb.google.com/kangarooistan9

This SURE does look like very old purple leather to me

Near this location
http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&ei=q7AUSuuwE52ktAOK6O2OCQ&resnum=0&q=chapel+hill+south+australia&um=1&ie=UTF-8&split=0&gl=au&ei=srAUSpajOYuitgO_452cCQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1

I know the area very well and have spent many decades researching this
site trying to understand is most unusual appearance that always left
me assuming it was mined pre 1836

While researching online I stumbled upon the Turin Papyrus gold map
and immediately recognized its striking similarity to the site in
South Australia , to a trained eye who knows the site , and more so on
closer examination until I have no doubts at all, The Turin Papyrus
gold mine is indeed located at this site

This has led me to believe that I have actually/ probably discovered
the fabled mines referred to in several ancient records, yes I bet
you get lots of such fantastic claims , but one day somebody WILL
discover it, and it MAY be in South Australia , so please at least
read this with an open mind for a few minutes , PLEASE

I have tossed the idea around, and been laughed at by mostly , and I
forgive all who are too busy , or simply not interested in Ancient
history , or the economic opportunities that may exist , but one
day I will find people who will in time see and develop this
opportunity for the benefit of the State , I myself remain convinced
this is the REAL thing , hence my decision to go to the top , and ask
for a few minutes of your time , or at least inform you of my findings
thus far

If it is indeed the fabled ancient mine, it would bring overseas
and local visitors to the state , we already have the gold mining
well covered , and has a fascinating ancient geological and fossil
history is to be found in this state , but we still miss out on the
tourists compared to some other states at present , like I see
Sovereign Hill , get millions from tourism , offering a reconstructed
mining tourism experience and feel we may be able to offer our own "
Ancient / Echunga Mine Site " , perhaps evoking a "possible" or
maybe direct link to the ancient world , IMHO

Soverign Hill is a reconstruction educational tourist goldmine
http://www.sovereignhill.com.au/

Even if its not King Solomons mine , it sure does LOOK like it to
me , and I consider myself an expert on the subject , and see an
opportunity for a Sovereign Hill type operation on site at Echunga ,
especially IF the site can be connected to ancient Phoenician mining
as I myself remain convinced , and am happy to offer you a examination
of the rock / at the Mount Barker Library/ History dept and or on
site if you request

I myself genuinely do believe this is INDEED the fabled mine , and
find a mountain of evidence growing all the time , that Im happy to
share with you , if you care to make contact and visit Mount barker
with one hour free at the Library / local history center , Im happy
for you to see the Ancient 'iron tool ' and discuss my research
http://picasaweb.google.com/kangarooistan9/KangarooistanOldIronToolProofTurinPapyrusGoldMineIsInSouthAustraliaTestImages#

I know there is enough visible evidence in the rock and on the
site , to attract tourists who may wish , or be invited to come and
check it out for themselves , especially with a bit of advertising ,
even the skeptics would simply add to those asked to examine the site
for themselves , even if if in doubt , either way it could easily be
made into another Sovereign Hill IMHO , and evidence we can offer on
site via good lay out like Sovereign Hill , we could achieve several
positive outcomes , another Tourism attraction , History lessons,
Private business opportunity , EVEN if the mine is not ancient Turin
gold mine , it SURE fools ME , I REMAIN 100% convinced it IS REALLY
3000 plus years old mine , and remain very confident it WILL provide
all the evidence we need , once a detailed study is undertaken , which
I intend to continue doing in any case
http://www.sovereignhill.com.au/

The local aboriginals do have a history of visitors , some traditions
may be interpreted as being supportive of ancient contact with the
Martu peoples of the middle east
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martu

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dreaming Stories Associated with Peramangk Lands and People

Yurebilla – The Giant whose body became the Mt Lofty Ranges

Two Mates – Who traveled from other lands way up north to visit the
Peramangk people at Mt Lofty

Tjilbruke – The Water & Fire Man who travelled around all of peramangk
territory marking the boundaries of their territories with his
travels.

The Mingka Bird – Little Bird who lived on Mt Barker and who announced
the approach of visitors and the imminent death of a loved one

Tak:Oni – Little Spirit Men who would throw stones at campers at night
if they strayed too far from the fire

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peramangk#Dreaming_Stories_Associated_with_Peramangk_Lands_and_People
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martu
===================================================================

Note there appears to be nothing of real value left behind at the
ancient mine site , like today the real treasure went to the palaces
over seas , and the mines wages were very low on the amount spent
on infrastructure back then and mineral reserves are too low to be of
commercial interest ,the sites remains from 3000 years ago will prove
hard to distinguish from local artifacts in any case , except Iron
tools with Murex Tyrian Purple dye on them , sort of stand out as "
imported " to most informed archaeologists
http://picasaweb.google.com/kangarooistan9/KangarooistanOldIronToolProofTurinPapyrusGoldMineIsInSouthAustraliaTestImages#
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple#History

Mostly just holes in the ground and mounds of mining wastes left
behind now , and the local Aboriginals Languages and cultural
practices , that do seem to show strong links to some middle eastern
languages and customs IMHO, but these have no commercial value as
tourists would prefer to visit Australian Aboriginals in their own
cultural settings even though Peramank Peoples DID trade minerals all
over Australia ,but not in a Phoenetian gold mine the miners would
have no use forgold or purple dye as both were forbidden to all but
royalty and to own either would be unthinkable, probably DNA could be
identified in local Aboriginals who no doubt worked in the mines ,
much the same as they worked the Ochre mineshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clay_earth_pigment
indeed it appears that several parcels of Ochre may be seen in the
material under the Iron tool , and as will the minerals found in
ancient metals and dyes , in the Ancient middle eastern countries
that received the metals and dyes
http://picasaweb.google.com/kangarooistan9/KangarooistanOldIronToolProofTurinPapyrusGoldMineIsInSouthAustraliaTestImages#

I suspect there MAY be a burial site somewhere , that MAY have been
used , but I suspect the visitors employed local peoples to extract
the gold and gather the mineral sands and Murex snails , as was the
habit of Phoenician traders and doubt many wealthy people EVER lived
at a mine at the edges of the earth except mostly the workers who had
no incentive to steal the Murex or the Gold and nowhere else to sell
them either a low cost mutually beneficial mine site would seem
probable living mostly off the land and lower lakes

There is no history of armies or wars in local Aboriginals stories
and no fortifications needed with lookouts on Mount Lofty and Mount
Barker summit over looking the sea at Encounter bay with ease , any
attackers would have great difficulty ever getting close to the site
or leaving alive unless invited to do so , surprise attack would be
impossible with 2 men watching the entire site with ease

BUT there is a strange story about 2 mates who visited from a far
away land , WAY up north that persists and probably indicate
friendly visitors to the site in Peramank tradition

AND Peramangk peoples had a long tradition of trading minerals /
ochres with other clans

It is History week soon ,and may be a good time to break a story like
this

, even if only to encourage interest in history , the site is within
an hours drive of the city , near mount barker , so tourists could do
the day trip bit and tour the entire site from the mine to the port at
Milang , that was used 3000 plus years ago , to ship the gold back
to the then market, in Egypt actually from my research

I note that Dan Brown has re written history and created a tourist
industry from a myth ,and earned millions , and generated a tourist
craze , everybody knows he is on thin ice historically , but there is
enough evidence to create interest and further enquiry IMHO

I claim we could do EXACTLY the same here with this mine site , and
using our mine site to offer a probable location for the fabled mine
that matches all the required ingredients to qualify as the missing
mine

I have more detail available ,but it does takes time to read so I will
give a link or two if you choose to read more , or wish to dispute my
position , granted I understand fully most people are genuinely too
busy to spare time for such an obscure idea and expect few if anybody
to even read this far , its really quite understandable its going to
be a very long lonely road

BUT its my obligation to inform you , as I know this WILL ' grow
legs " as they say , Im a lefty from way back , and will be happy to
include your inputs when its does gain more acceptance , you may be
wise to have at least some knowledge of this rapidly emerging news

Thanks for your time

Indeed Sir JPT

I suspect I have crack open the reasons WHY the near by sites dont "
fit " with what I know about geology without adding the option of VAST
human mining from long ago

I dont expect much help , most simply dont care

There is no mineral wealth to be had or the original miners or those
more recently would have mined it long ago

It is not possible to " OWN " history , so there will be little profit
and few who care , indeed I recall how few know what Nicolas Baudin
did in research of the state and few even know HIS name mate

It is still a fascinating topic

It is growing all around the world we can see evidence emerging from
the dust of many years of ignorance

Hi Sir Jean-Paul Turcaud
> Australia Mining Pioneer

Thanks for the link mate

I am aware of the vast centers of ancient world and the rise and fall
of the different groups

A topic I follow will much interest but as its a long way away its
impossible for me to do more than watch on mate

Its important to remember the site in South Australia was almost
certainly a mine only and at the FAR end of the world , NOBODY expects
to find even a small town

Its possible only a few permanent buildings would ever be needed

The miners would only need basic accommodation and in such a remote
site

The TRADERS may have only visited once a year to buy the minerals
PERHAPS needing even fewer nice buildings

There may be more artifacts to find mate , but I have crawled over the
vast site on my knees for nearly 50 years and personally sunk many
test shafts to examine under ground anomalies

ITS JUST A VAST open cut mine and the waste , the roads dams refinery
and settlement site is EXACTLY as shown on the Turin Papyrus , but no
treasure should be expected

As to WHO and WHEN , its hard to be sure , The Turin Papyrus CAN BE
DATED to after 3160 when the " scribe " who signed it died , he seems
to not know exactly WHERE it was as no names on it can be found in
Egypt , he was a senior SCRIBE , not a miner , He may have received
the map as war booty from a captured ship or town or extracted the
detail from a captured sailor or a spy who sold him the description of
the mine but who did NOT know where it really was

IT DOES SEEM TO BE KEPT SECRET , it has been over 30000 years
searching for it

Clearly the Lower Lakes and the Coorong are INDEED themselves VAST "
Heavy Mineral Sand " mines

That can be SEEN online by ANYBODY who understands the subject of
ancient mining methods

Like ANYBODY who sails into the caldera of Santorini can SEE it was an
ancient volcano

Once explained ANYBODY who sails into the Murray mouth can SEE it was
indeed an ancient HMSM mineral sand mine , even online if you
understand a 24500 km river empties into the sea after 6 million , or
up to 50 million years over time but in different spots , 6 million
at this location should leave VAST amounts of HMS or a VAST mine site
washing the sands , there MUST be HMS , or a mine site one OR the
other

naturally in a Mediterranean climate the hole would be IDEAL for MUREX
snails to be farmed/ harvested with EASE in the worked out abandoned
sections as the mining moved along the Murex farms would replace the
miners for a FREE crop so easy to see on the site
http://www.arta.com.au/samaps/maps/coorong.gif

Minoan Akrotiri
The site a Santorini MAY be a home base ,I can not work on that end ,
but its clear the sea peoples from that ERA and that AREA were
involved , like today we STILL sell gold to people all over the
world , gold went to the richest people eventually, that does no mean
you would see similar cultures on THIS END of the trade , diamond
miners in Africa dont share much in common with their customers and
the " buyers ' only visit a few hours a week to remote mines even
today

was not a palace-complex such as are found in Crete, but its excellent
masonry and fine wall-paintings show that this was certainly no
conglomeration of merchants' warehousing either. A loom-workshop
suggests organized textile weaving for export. This Bronze Age
civilization throve between 3000 to 2000 BC, and reached its peak in
the period 2000 to 1580 BC.[3]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santorini
Some of the houses in Akrotiri are major structures, some amongst them
three stories high. Its streets, squares, and walls were preserved in
the layers of ejecta, sometimes as tall as eight meters, and
indicating this was a major town. In many houses stone staircases are
still intact, and they contain huge ceramic storage jars (pithoi),
mills, and pottery. Noted archaeological remains found in Akrotiri are
wall paintings or frescoes, which have kept their original colour
well, as they were preserved under many meters of volcanic ash. The
town also had a highly developed drainage system and, judging from the
fine artwork, its citizens were clearly sophisticated and relatively
wealthy people.

Pipes with running water and water closets found at Akrotiri are the
oldest such utilities discovered. The pipes run in twin systems,
indicating that the Therans used both hot and cold water supplies; the
origin of the hot water probably was geothermic, given the volcano's
proximity. The dual pipe system suggesting hot and cold running water,
the advanced architecture, and the apparent layout of the Akrotiri
find resemble Plato's description of the legendary lost city of
Atlantis, further indicating the Minoans as the culture which
primarily inspired the Atlantis legend.[citation needed]

Fragmentary wall-paintings at Akrotiri lack the insistent religious or
mythological content familiar in Classical Greek decor. Instead, the
Minoan frescoes depict "Saffron-Gatherers", who offer their crocus-
stamens to a seated lady, perhaps a goddess. (Crocus has been
discovered to have many medicinal values including the relief of
menstrual pain. This has led many archaeologists to believe that the
fresco of the saffron/crocus gatherers is a coming of age fresco
dealing with female pubescence.) In another house are two antelopes,
painted with a kind of confident, flowing, decorative, calligraphic
line, the famous fresco of a fisherman with his double strings of fish
strung by their gills, and the flotilla of pleasure boats, accompanied
by leaping dolphins, where ladies take their ease in the shade of
light canopies, among other frescoes.

The well preserved ruins of the ancient town often are compared to the
spectacular ruins at Pompeii in Italy. The canopy covering the ruins
collapsed in an accident in September 2005, tragically killing one
tourist and injuring seven more. The site remains closed while a new
canopy is built.

The oldest signs of human settlement are Late Neolithic (4th
millennium BC or earlier), but ca. 2000–1650 BC Akrotiri developed
into one of the Aegean's major Bronze Age ports, with recovered
objects that had come, not just from Crete, but also from Anatolia,
Cyprus, Syria, and Egypt as well as from the Dodecanese and the Greek
mainland.

[edit] Dating

The Minoan eruption provides a fixed point for the chronology of the
second millennium BC in the Aegean, because evidence of the eruption
occurs throughout the region and the site itself contains material
culture from outside. The eruption occurred during the "Late Minoan
IA" period at Crete and the "Late Cycladic I" period in the
surrounding islands.

The exact date of the eruption, however, is unknown. Radiocarbon
dating indicates that the eruption occurred about 1645—1600 BC.[4]
These dates, however, conflict with the usual date range from
archaeological evidence, which is between about 1550 and 1500 BC.[5]
For more discussion, see the article on the Minoan eruption.

Hi Sir Jean-Paul Turcaud

If we can find more like it in other places we may discover WHO mined
the coorong 3000 years ago

Im working on finding some more wells like this one
http://www.planbooktravel.com.au/region-images/SA/limestone-coast/limestone-coast-400x272/chinamans-well.jpg/image_preview

its in the sand hills at 42 mile creek on the Coorong
http://www.arta.com.au/samaps/maps/coorong.gif

White people call it chinamans well but it was named before chinamen
were in the area

Its very old but no chinaman built it IMHO

Do you recall seeing any like it in your travels , , or can you ask
your friends if they can find an exact match else where

Its clearly built by somebody who knew exactly what they were doing so
Im going to try and find more like it

Its possible that others like it exist and it MAY lead to further
identifying who and when they mined the HMS in the coastal sand
dunes , and created the Coorong and Lower Lakes

It is possible they actually used this as the original entrance at one
time rather than the present River Murray mouth 42 miles to the west
in its present position

They MAY have used the long thin canal to add security from possible
disclosing to on lookers WHERE the fabled mine was hidden

my research of the old iron tool has proven beyond all doubt that
there is VAST VAST mining activity here is South Australia 3000 years
ago

Wait till you see it all laid out neatly

The Coorong and Lower Murray lakes ARE MAN MADE Heavy mineral Sand
mines
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_mineral_sands_ore_deposits

Over 150 km long dug by hand
http://www.arta.com.au/samaps/maps/coorong.gif

a project of Pyramid and Great wall of China scale, and nobody
noticed it because we All assumed nobody visited the state back then

Until WE found this 3000 year old iron tool and purple leather in
south Australia
http://picasaweb.google.com/kangarooistan9/KangarooistanOldIronToolProofTurinPapyrusGoldMineIsInSouthAustraliaTestImages#

and THIS 3000 year old well in south Australia

And asked Why can you find Heavy Mineral Sands { HMS } , every where
the ancient river used to be but NONE where the present Lower Lakes
and Coorong is now and has been for about 6 000 years at the END of a
2500km long river plus tributaries

The ABSENCE of HMS is evidence somebody mined it long ago , as the
expected white quartz sands are still there , but the expected HMS
are not , now we KNOW where the ancient " sea peoples " got their
wealth

OOPS , how do you lose a City , please remind me again
