Does anyone know what the deal is with AWA brand TVs being sold in
Australia?

To me they seem like rebadged deals, so I'd like to know who makes the
current W5100AV 51cm TV branded AWA.

There is absolutely zero information about this brand name.

They would be rebaged as no TV's are manufactured in Australia.

Yep, AWA tellies have been bagged quite often.

Bagged? Or Badged?

I'd just like to know if I should be staying away from them.... Is it
possible that different models are made by reputable companies? It's a
little worrying for the consumer....

I like them.

Many AWA sets are rebadged Mitsubishi units. Mine hasn't misbehaved in
15 years.

It's possible, but these days I would severely doubt it.

Yep.

As Frank points out, in the "old days" when AWA existed as a real
entity, AWA/Thorn TV's were Mits. Not real bad. Back in those days
most of this stuff was ex Japan. Now it's all Malaysia and more
lately China - even the so-called reputable/top_of_the_line brands
like Panasonic.

For all that remains of AWA see

http://www.juptech.com/awa.html

There is a small amount of development still being done by AWA (now
call Jupiters Technology Sydney) but most of the development is done
here in brisbane now.

I think the rebadging is now long gone, but it may have been sold of
to another company, not to sure on this one.
