I have a fluke multimeter that reads 2 ohms when the leads are shorted. The
leads are fine. The rest of the meter works fine. Anyone know how to adjust
it?

dont know the 85 myself. but the fluke i have (mabee an 83?)has a low
ohms range(<40), you access it by pressing and holding a yellow button
while the meter is set to continuity. while in that mode, if you briefly
press the yellow button again it calibrates itself. i think flukes
reasoning is that the coulpe of ohms the meter normally reads is of
little relevance when measuring hundreds or thousands.

Simple, just push the REL (Relative) button, it wil cancel out the leads.
2ohms is very high though. Even you have dicky (or very longggg) leads or a
dicky meter.

Sounds like you have a Fluke 79. The 83 is functionally the same as the 85/87

yep, checked today. its a 79III. its not the yellow button either, but a
grey one i think marked 'range'. do the more expensive ones not have the
same function? i know my cheaper 70II doesnt have it.
cheers,
evan.

The 79 is pretty unique in having the 40ohm range. The 80series and
the other 70series do not have it, except for the 87, but it's 4.5
digit so it gives you the same resolution on the 400ohm range.
