No! Not that sort! :)

Anyone know of a source (preferably in Oz) for small vibrator
alert transducers maybe similar to the ones in mobile phones?

Thanks in advance.

According to Doug Mulray on BATB, electric toothbrush sales
have gone through the roof!

I'm really looking for a purpose designed item as it's
going into a commercial product. A motor may be OK
but there are issues with current consumption and
reliability.

I have located a few manufacturers via the net (doing
a Google search on this was... errr... interesting :) )
but they are all overseas and don't seem to have Oz
agents. And, of course, they only want to ship 5000+
units whereas my production will be about 100 units
per year!

One of the ongoing frustrations of designing products
in Oz is the local supply situation. Trouble is our
population is too small compared to Europe or the US.

Try
http://www.mrutty.com.au/
for
http://www.maxonmotorusa.com/

I have no idea if they are any good - I've just seen the ads in magazines
and thought they looked interesting.

Perhaps it may be worth contacting a company that services / repacks movile
phone batteries (if one exists) - most now have integrated pleasure
transducers and they must fail occaisionally.

What kind of lifecycle are you planning on having Jim?

I had been told by somebody that some early mobiles
had a motor inside the battery to give the vibration.
Maybe a cheap cpu brushless with a washer in place
of the fan would be more reliable than a brushed $1
motor.

Hi Jim,

I've noticed that All Electronics in the US have them:

http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=400&item=DCM-184
&type=store

There are a few other varieties also under the motors section.

Regards,

Peter.
