You can copy and paste schematics into any image software (as bmp) and
then save as jpg or gif. There is a check box in 'preferences' that
specifies weather or not the template is copied as well.

If you have Adobe Acrobat, converting to PDF if simply a matter of printing
the schematic to the Acrobat Distiller 'Printer'.
I don't have Protel installed anymore (Only had the demo anyway) and not
sure about the 'export' options, you should check those.
Failing that, you can always view the schematic - Press PrintScreen. This
does a screen capture and places it onto the clipboard, you can open the
graphics program of your choice and do a PASTE....save as whatever you wish
from there.
only trouble with that John is when the schematic is too large for a
print screen, and you can't save it without a bit of cutting and pasting
overlapping/matching to get say 4 pictures into one gif.
The adobe distiller works OK, sometimes needs a push or shove, but what
beats me is that a good ozzie company like Protel hasn't given us a web
friendly output direct to pdf, gif, or jpg. I guess they may have to
spend big bucks for the rights to use some formats, and then there is
the software development costs.
But it would be nice. :-)

But then really big schematics are hard to follow if only used for
referencing. Wouldn't it be better off to split the schematic onto several
sheets?
PS: Make your schematic links on your page ...standout more... very very
useful, beats following tracks :P

Protel/Distiller works magic for me. Protel->GIF works fine for me too
since I usually have small schematics. My grudge is against *AutoCAD*!!!
Export options are horrible, print options for distiller are horrible, and
in the end even using my PrntScrn method I still have to invert the image :P
Would have thought they'll have an easier way.
PS : Protel is expecting revenues of up to 50million and profit of around
12million...Good Aussie company is called Protel International...Is there a
negative image overseas of the word Australia?

Install the standard postscript printer driver and use that to print
the schematic/PCB. Just tell it to print to file! That is what we
used last year to get our schematics into a high quality printable
format for one of our design reports.
