My reply was EVEN IF I COULD, no way would I do so for him.
I would be instead off the the patent office with my idea, expecting to make my fortune from breaking the laws of physics.

There was a time when clients expected everything Java to be J2EE
compliant, even though J2EE has nothing to say about most Java programs,
one way or the other.

The question then was did one try to educate the client, or did one just
assure them that the programs would be J2EE compliant (in much the same
way as a toaster would be J2EE compliant).
