I'm after a twin-HD PVR, local Dick Smith had DGTEC and Topfield, was told
Topfield was better quality @ $588, DGTEC was $388.
Q1 - anybody had any problems with DGTEC PVR
Q2 - is this the right group for this query

aus.tv.digital is probably the more appropriate newsgroup.

I have one, the TF4400. $100 off Ebay.

It arrived DOA. Returned it, got another a week or so later. Its 80 gig HDD
lasted about 8 months before it shat itself. I bought a 320 gig one for it for
around $80. Installed it. No problems since. Couldn't be fucked packing it up,
sending it back, not having it for however long it would take to get fixed, then
returned.

It's being relegated to the lounge room (where no-one watches anything), when
the Mystar HD PVR is installed next week.

I've owned the TF4400 for around 1 and a half years. Got it from Ebay when
my VCR kicked the bucket. Best thing I have ever purchased.

The only problem I have had with it was when I pulled the plug whilst the
player was on (not in standby) and it lost all its recordings. So I had to
reformat the hdd to get it back up and running.

Agree the 80gb hard drive is too small, even for an SD recorder. I replaced
mine about 1 year ago with a 250gb drive I had spare, and have never had any
problems with it. 250gb+ is a decent size hdd for these units.
