I find it rather hard to believe that most people stripped off the
makeup and heels last year. Did anyone here go?

prize for skimpiest sleep wear? that'll really pull in the punters.
that's not the kind of thing i would ever have expected from a goth
club...even in the Cross.
are we talking about a strip joint or a club here?

I ate Dave's special chocolate frog. It was a gift to him, very
expensive, and I lay down on the couch and ate it all up. Then I called
him at work and told him. I'm like the ferret who must be played with
all day or it pees on your important papers. (Lisa Carver)

I went last year (tho not in my jammies. and i felt out of place!)
most people wore PJ's and nighties etc. (mainly guys in the nighties I
think, the girls had flannel PJ's most part (it was a little later in the
year IIRC, and cool enough for full jammies)
I did take my teddy (well Mr Men) along with me though.
looked like most people were having fun, and indeed the make up was off in
lots of cases :]

I missed the last one due to work commitments, this time I'm taking
fucking leave and they can deal with it. (Fucking leave? Is that like
sick leave?)

Although I did make it to this and will definately be going again...
One of the 2 times I actually *had fun* at the Paladin... not to mention
seeing Tony dancing on the DJ booth in a miniskirt.

I did, heres me with my award winning bunny slippers on:-

Was a great turn out.
More photos of said event are at:-

You don't have access to them from www.xoreth.com page anymore so it
took me about half my working day to twig that google would get me

*giggle* meow, Justin ;P

FWIW I agree in a sense - whats so strange about this concept? We do
have a big fetish scene down here thats quite close to the goth scene,
and Heresy's events are a part of that I guess.

After all, why protest about skimpy jammies, and not about skimpy PVC,
or bondage gear, or skintight velvet with cleavage ahoy, or...

in my original post, i snipped the line about 'how can things get
skimpier than the PVC bandaids you see running around the place now.' I
thought it was too bitchy. and it's not acres of flesh i disagree with
per se. but the Heresy skimpy costume thing just goes a little close to
goth swimsuit section of the beauty pageant for my liking.

you're right, the fetish scene is a lot closer to the goth scene in melb
than syd. but then, do we go to goth clubs to see people being tied
up/whipped/set on fire?

Nah I'm with you there, the BDSM scene does nothing for me, nor does
Heresy, and I'm sure I've made that very clear on numerous occasions.

Sorry to confuse. I was refering to you comparing what happens at "The
Cross" to a humerous concept for a giveaway. I somehow concluded that
you must have spent some considerable amount of time in Sydney to come
up with that comment. It was a bad asumption and response.

> and isn't the sydney-melbourne rivalry a bit old by now?

Yeah OK, gone with the dinosaurs. Never been to Sydney so who am I to
compare? Came across sounding worse than I thought after i posted that
comment. I should have known better. It's close enough to Melbourne
that i'd doubt it would be much differant anyway. Not that it matters
at all if it was. Hadn't realy thought about it 'till now.

>

Not going into that, I've already dug my own grave. What is your
opinion of Sydney? I'm still impresionable enough to soak up your
input.

I should get off my arse and go there now. I'd love to meet some of
those incredably stunning people i've met from out that way.
Particularly those who I managed to bump into at Doppelganger recently
again. I've got a vague memory that someone even shouted me a drink at
some stage, but I can't quite remember so i think i owe someone one.

Set on fire. Thats a good idea.

Hey Craig. If your reading this. I think the Pyjama Party may be
somewhat out of place for the flamming humans thing. But could it be
possable for the next Cyberball? I gotta see this live. You could
start the next popular party trick, since you made those axel grinding
crotch pads for Pete and Amelia that your so fond of.

Well, I did live there for about 6 years.
:)
Interesting thing is, while most of the nation's goths seem to think
that Melbourne is sleaze central, Melb seems happy enough to hoist that
tag on Sydney...
:P

S'ok. Now that I've jumped down your throat about it, I should mention
that I wasn't (really) pissed at you. I'm lucky enough to have spent
time in, and liked, both cities. (awww)

I do get a bit touchy when people try to pigeonhole me as being 'from'
various places when my accent precludes me from being accepted as a
native of any of them...

>It's close enough to Melbourne

Well, for one thing, Sydney has hardly any live goff music scene. One
thing Melb seems to have going for it. Sydney also has club mushrooming
disease, whereas Melb seems to have a few long established clubs that
survive quite well.

I was told before moving here that the goth scene was quite punk
influenced. Not sure if that's died off since, but I really haven't
noticed it much at the clubs I've been to. (Heresy, Blue Velvet,
Doppleganger). Which is a shame, from a perve point of view...
:)

It seems like a lot more people get the opportunity to DJ here, which is
cool (oi you lot, get my David to DJ!).

> Not going into that, I've already dug my own grave. What is your

ah, young brain to mould. ahahahahahha! oh, sorry. ahem.
I love sydney. it was really the first place i got into the goth scene,
and where i managed to find a lifestyle and group of friends. so i'm
pretty damned biased i guess. i think the stereotype of sydney being
cold, hard, etc is crap. like anywhere, you just need to make a little
effort and people will respond to you...

the fetish scene in some parts (most notably Europe, i believe) has it's
own type of electronic/dance/doof, whatever they call it...that musical
genre is not so established here, although you are right to say that
many fetish clubs play dancey music...

As long as they are smooth shaven, I have no objection to goth bois in
drag. But half-arsed drag with a three day growth and hairs poking out
of his fishnets...well, that doesn't do it for me...

You need a Hugh Hefner dressing gown and pipe.

I did that last year. Genevieve couldn't find bunny ears though.

Maybe I should go as zombie hefner. No wear did I put that pipe.

Now this would be extremely entertaining. I think Estelle would probably
be in hysterics forever though...

Just when I thought I'd gotten over the "slinky PVC catsuit" comment of a
few months ago you have to say this don't you? :p It's been a long time

near you :p

Love Dan
(oh btw I am available for DJing at the Cyberball if you want me)
