Well, I have a copy (I won't say 'bought') Runs and gets it....whacks it in
the CD drive..Ok, a virtual review!!!

Disclaimer: I don't mean anything personal or nasty by any of these reviews.

1. Love Lies Bleeding-Bride of Death: Not too much too it, but great
atmosphere music, I think. (This is the breadth of my talents in
reviewing, you'll have to be patient!) Actually, the more I listen to it,
the more I like it.

2. Eden-Stone Cat (Siamese Mix): Dont' particularly like this. The melody's
alriught, I just feel that they used the wrong instruments in some parts,
and Eden as a whole aren't really to my taste.

3. Subterfuge-The Judas In Me: I think this has quite a good beat/tune,
although the lyrics are a little empty in some spots. Overall, very good.

4. Logic Stain-D.I.Y.C: not really to my taste, but that doesn't mean it's
not good. maybe the CD player's skipping a lot, but it sounds quite flat
and repetitious.

5. Hawkwind-Master of the Universe (Salt Tank) I like this one. While
generally I don't like repetitious electronic beats, this one is quite
catchy in parts

6. Leviathan-Slow Pain: Not for me. See above (Logic Stain).

7. Discordia-Fix Mix: God, what _is_ it with these over-elecktoised bands!
Perhaps I'd take a better view of Discordia, Leviathan and Logic Stain if
they hadn't been put next to each other on the CD. Not a fan of the
growling vocals here.

8. Meridan-Ritual: Alright, something with a drum machine and guitar!! I
though at the opening...but develops into a rock-y sound...damm.

9. Disjecta Membra-Cauldron of Cerridwen: FANTASTICALY FAST DRUMMING!:}
Great melody, and nice vocals too.

10. Life Eternal-My Intimate Madness: I groaned when I saw the name of the
song, but the song itself is great-seems to have traces of Cure-guitar and
keyboard, with a nice twist.

11. Neuropaque-Static Conscience: The looming keyboard overwhelems the
vocals a bit, but that may be a mixing problem or done on purpose.
Nevertheless, from what I can hear of it, the song is middling to quite
good, depending on what it's being compared too.

12. The Baroness and Love Lies Bleeding-Dark Beauty: Quite liked this one,
great vocals from The Baroness, probably the best on the CD. LLB do what
they do quite well-swarmy moorish backing music.

13. Control-P.W.H (remix): is it just me, or does the opening of this song
sound a little Prodigy-ish? Fairly standard beats with cool word repeated
over the top. I don't undestand either, I'm afraid.

Overall, I'd recommend the CD-it's only $15, it's for a good cause and it
seems to be the only sort of its kind-at least I haven't seen too many
other samplers of relatively unknown Australian 'darkwave' bands! Oh, and
the music is quite good too :}

Hey, very good critique.
Personally I would recommend ppl get this CD, it's good and it
supports local bands. What more do you want.

What do I want?

Well... An album from Baroness/Love Lies Bleeding would be pretty huge
I'd say... Something from Subterfuge would be pretty good - they've
matured a lot (I wouldn't mind a copy of 'When The Levee Breaks" either)
and perhaps something else from Life Eternal...

I'm so glad Paul et al are actually doing stuff...

and speaking of Heartland.... Does anyone know if Cathy "Slow Pulse
Orchestrsa" has any plans to relase some more stuff... I know she's got
at least one other track recorded....

I brought it on the weekend and love it. Not all the songs suit my taste
but I think that its about time that local bands started to get some
exposure.

This is the best news I've had all week!

I've got it somewhere - shall do....

I'm actually quite keen to interview the dynamic duo too...

The Baroness has asked me to let people know that Love Lies Bleeding are
currently working on a debut album, while a collaborative album between
she and they looks likely also.

Also, Katherine, was the long commentary on the album yours? Could you
(or someone) please e-mail it to me, if you still have it, as I'd like
to print out a copy for Baroness.

Finally, if for some bizarre reason you actually want to reply to my
posts at any stage, you might need to e-mail me in addition to posting
on a.c.g. as news.warehouse still seems to be fluctuating in terms of
regular delivery of posts.

Ciao,
Richard

Indeed! Who's going to produce it? what label's it going to be on? When is
it going to be out? Details!!!

Well, looks like Haydn beat me to it:}
If you can't find it, let me know and I'll dig it up.

No.. Paul has still to step into the techno age - but i'm sure Katherine
could pass along a message... or whoever dares go near heartland next
could...

I don't have many yet, all I know is that Lisa (The Baroness) was over

last week, and when I mentioned the positive reviews about their track
on the Sampler, she was mighty chuffed. I gathered the impression that
Love Lies Bleeding are recording already, and my guess is the CD will be
on heartland, but that *is*just a guess. Hey, does anyone know if Paul @

Heartland has net access? We could ask him! The collaboration is more
tenuous, but still highly likely. Lisa is over tomorrow to work on the
ad, so maybe I'll ask her to post something then.

He did, but thanks anyway. I gave it to Lisa at a Solstice party on
saturday night. Maybe you should identify yrself as the author of the

review the next time you come into the club. I'm sure she'd like to meet
you.
