dont get any disks with it. Win 7 is preloaded. Thats no good to me
because I intended to reformat the harddrive as soon as I got it home, to
get all the useless junk off it which comes pre-installed, such as Norton
and all the usual garbage they include. I want to just start with a blank
disk and a HP disk which I could select which bits of the software I want to
include, and a Win7 disk. But thats not how it works. Is there any way
around this? I mean, if I bought it anyway, wiped the disk and bought a new
copy of Win 7 would I be able to instal it and have everything including the
touchscreen work OK?

Windoze does not have all drivers for every manufacturers products.
No Disks, that's why it's sold as an OEM Version from HP, it's cheaper.
In the advent of a crash, you are meant to do a HP system restore.
They have a hidden partition on the drive that contains the
pre-Installed HP version. So before you trash it, you would want to
make sure you have all the HP drivers first.
There is not as much bloatware on Windoze 7 as on Vista, which became
a free-for-all contest as to who could pack the most crap into one
Install and still allow it to start. So just remove all the Crap and
create your own base image to restore. Just don't do any updates before
you start removing stuff.

Not quite
I think they give you disks on high end ones, but these are just the
system restore partition on DVD. You still can't do a Install from them.
And some allow you to create your own DVD from the restore image.
Once you've got the PC to a state you want, use Ghost, Arconis or what
ever to copy the current PC Disk to a DVD.

Have seen these on youtube, they look identical to Moby phones.
When you tap the screen the screen flexs and distorts colours where
press. Also when you tap the screen then whole panel just goes
boing...., could get a bit annoying after a while.

Windows disk are the yumcha machines (and even some of them
have recovery disks now instead of Win disks). Most of the
name-brand machines have a recovery partition loaded on the
hard drive, and give you the option to create backup
CD/DVD's which is VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
The good thing about the recovery option is that it includes
all drivers/support programs for the hardware in a working
configuration. The bad thing is that you also get whatever
else the manufacturer wants to load you up with. This will
usually include a few programs like MS-Works etc, which
takes a (relatively) tiny amount of hard disk space.
There is often concern about things they load in startup,
but IME other than the trial A/V software, it is mostly just
helper programs for the hardware - eg things like the
support program for keyboard hotkeys etc. It can pretty much
all be disabled (with some loss of functionality) if it
concerns you.

Yes, it will create the DVDs.

Probably not, but it shouldnt be too hard to get the drivers from the HP site.

Not entirely correct. We bought a Dell Vostro lappie 12 months ago,
and that came with all media (XP Pro and Vista soething) as well as
all the Dell-specific stuff. And it also had the HPAE, but I don't
recall an option to burn any of the preload to DVD.
