I guess is some Windows DLL is missing.
How can I determine which MS$ DLL's MYOB requires without installing and
trying several 100 MS$ DLL's by triak and error?
I want to avoid running MS$ in a virtual box.
The system:
Gnome, AMD Phenom 4 945, Gigabyte GA=MA790FX-UD5P, 8GB RAM, 3 x 500GB
SATA Drives to be configures as RAID 5.
All Linux applications work fine, except Firefox, Skype for Linux,
Evolution and some cosmetics. Firefox crashes frequently. Skype for
Linux has only sound on the left side speaker but rings on left both
speakers. Evolution can't post to News Groups
Cheers Bob

On a Windows box, install and run Ms/SysInternals "procexp.exe"
(Process Explorer). It will tell you what DLLs get loaded when you run
MYOB (or any other app)... while running it under under a Windows OS.
Useful tool, you should have it anyway. Google for it if necessary.
Don't get rid of that Ms box, just yet ;-)

yeah it has always done that, but it is a program written by accountants
;) nothing about it is normal
I use first accounts and I know I will have to upgrade one day but at
the moment it is fine for my use
I tried it under various flavours of linux, currently run Ubuntu, it
seems to work fine except for the tabs, the other thing was I entered in
a bunch of new data to an existing accounts file and even though the
program showed the data onscreen it couldn't save it, it might have been
something as simple as a permission change on the .dat file but would
not write to it, so it was a waste of time.
I find it best to run MYOB in a virtual box like VMWare where it does
work very well or just use an old notebook or something just for MYOB,
it doesn't need the latest top end pc to run.
I currently run 1stAccounts on a netbook with XP, more than enough for it.

firefox on Ubuntu works fine, yes it falls over on odd occasions because
of dodgy code on some webpage but not very often.
don't use Skype
never used Evo, thunderbird works fine and can read and post to
newsgroups, obviously :)
MYOB Premier appears to be 16bit software. Guess I will have to run
Windows in a Virtual Box and continue to have the usual Windoze
problems. Or spend the time == money to configure WebERP.
