Sometimes QT Player does well launch, but will quit unexpectedly as soon
as via QT Player menu the preferences are called or a movie is opened.
Deleting ~/Library/Preferences/QuickTime Preferences did not help.
Under a different user ("guest" or "root") the same QT Player works
fine!
QuickTime itself seems to be o.k., pictures and MPEG files run faultless
under Finder and other applications.
I called the Console and Crash Reporter (having no experience with this
stuff), they report:
a) Console.log:
*** malloc[278]: Deallocation of a pointer not malloced: 0xffffffff;
This could be a double free(), or free() called with the middle of an
allocated block; Try setting environment variable MallocHelp to see

Since I upgraded my system to version 10.1.5 this bug has disappeared -
luckily. However, I am always a little bit disapointed when a bug could
not be traced to its cause. So it may happen again and one is starting
again at zero.
