YW. If you decide to try a cheap no-name, check the main chipset on
the card. Look for "NEC D720101GJ".
I have two USB 2 PCI cards currently in a G4, ones a Belkin 3 port
and the other a generic 5 port USB card. Both have the same NEC
chipset. Both work fine in Mac OS 9.x - OS X 10.4.x in this old Mac.
No 3rd party drivers were required other than the USB card drivers
supplied by Apple for Mac OS 8.6 - 9.2.2 and OS X installs its own.
The generic card I think I paid no more than $15 for it (about 3
years ago from a computer fair).
