Linux standby problem

I do have a big problem.
Windows XP and Red Hat 8.0 are installed.
Now Linux is changing to standby every few minutes. APM is deactivated in
BIOS and Windows.
Who can help me?

that's probably irrelevant. what hardware is it running on?

what's activated and deactivated in windows shouldn't make any difference
while linux is running (in general, that is, anyway). your problem sounds
like it could be similar to one i've had for a long time with an old
laptop. since some changes to the ps/2 stuff in kernel 2.0 or 2.2 (i've
lost track now), my laptop will suspend itself if i try and use the
trackball. i've been through a whole rigmarole of testing etc, with people
involved with development of 'gpm', but i never got round to reporting it
as a kernel bug (this laptop is 7 years old, it hardly seems worth
hassling people over it...).

depending on what hardware you're running, it's possibly something
similar.

Hi.

Are you running KDE by any chance? I found that KDE and thus KDM do their
own APM stuff, which you need to turn off in KDE's config app. I can't
remember off the top of my head where the option is, but if you hunt around
in the configuration tool you should find it.
