I have been asking every where about proof that telstra has shut down
their news server and do not seem to be getting anywhere.
I am getting a lot of scuttlebut repeated ad nauseam by non users that
it has ceased but I need proof from someone that uses it or telstra but
they have not answered my email.
You would hope that a supplier would tell a subscriber that it was
shutting down something that they have been supplying for years

Have you tried calling them?

Get yourself an account at news.individual.net ($) reliable, no
binaries.

Why should I have to, It is annoying,Telstra sold me a bundle, part of
which is a news server (which does have binary pictures)
It now seem to have removed that part with out any correspondence,
I have always had eternal sept as a back up for telstras numerous problems.
if any other service dropped part of what you were paying for there
would be consequences.

IIRC, over the years there has been constant claims here of shitty ng
server at Telstra.

Was part of the bundle specified in writing as a news server?

As an aside, I used the BigPong news server many years ago; gave up
after it had similar issues.
