Just saw a blurb on the new Civic. If you thought the new WRX looked bad,
check this out :-

I was waiting for the new Civic to be released before deciding on a purchase
but I won't bother waiting now. Looks like the Pug 206GTi is the front
runner now.

I dread to think what they're going to do to the Prelude and Integra...
The japanese seem to have lost the plot car-design-wise....

Proof positive that Honda has definitely lost the plot....and what's with
the gearshift poking out of the middle of the dash? And no three-door?

If you had to pick a style leader among the Japanese at the moment it would
probably have to be Nissan - at least the N16 Pulsar and S15 Silvia look
pretty good, as does the R34 (IMHO).

You're probably right there. Even the new Pulsar doesn't look TOO bad
(despite the wierd luxury car grille)
But maybe they're just lagging behind. I will just cry if the R35 comes out
with big round headlights...

Yeah...but think positive, Nissan hasn't designed any cars with big round
headlights recently that I can think of :-) I get the impression Subaru
designed the Impreza when round headlights were in (sometime around the
early to mid 90s) and thought the trend would get bigger, not go away.

What'da'farq?

God, now Honda caught the Toyota Ugly Bug that infected Celica..
And I thought Mazda had reached the bottom of the barrel for small
car styling...

Why is the gear stick in the Dash?!?

Hmmm, I just checked it out, doesn't look as bad you made it out to be! I
was expecting something like a hugely bug eyed WRX.... this one has got mini
Toyota Celica headlights.... Not that I'd buy one anyway!!!

My oath. I made this point a while ago, but I'm gonna make it again...

New cars lack the style and class of old cars. I mean look at the latest 3
examples... The new WRX, the new Corolla and the new Civic... Fucken ugly!
I dont remember Holden churning out an ugly model Kingswood (cept the
bootlid on HX/Z.. Whats with that?), nor Ford bringing out an ugly
Falcon..... Unless I'm forgetting something here? (the AU prehaps?)

Dont give me any ideas....

While the performance might be nice, I dont think I could honestly destroy
the heart 'n' soul of Australian motoring (eg the Holden Red 308)

Saw one of the newer Celicas up close on the weekend, first time I really
took any notice.

They are FUCK UGLY cars, even more pointless than the A-Class. What's the
fucking deal with the rear end on the things? You've got to be joking.

The new Civic looks alright.

I can't wait to see what the next generation, Civic-based, CR-V looks like.
Now that should be interesting! Standard CD player this time around??
Double DIN?
16" wheels perhaps? And a little wider than 6 inches too...
And an optional V6 engine would be nice too :)

Built, not developed. Every major technological innovation for the past 200
years has come from the West. Radio, flight, atomic energy, microchips,
GUI, transplant surgery, penicillin, etc.

So what's your point ? If the 'smacks' as you so revoltingly put it can
build a better mouse trap, what does that say for the west's ability to
build quality products ?

I've never referred to anyone as a "smack". I call heroin addicts
"smackies", but that's as close as it comes.

The world has moved on. The real money is in coming up with the technology,
and licensing it out. We get them to build stuff, because they will do it
for $4 a month.

Small hands too - handy with electronics.
