G'day All,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what is so good (or bad) with FE2
suspension on Commodores. I have a VN which I bought about a month ago, and
think the springs have been chopped in it, and was looking at either getting
some properly lowered springs (eg Pedders or King springs) or the FE2 type
which I can pick up from the Holden Dealer for the same amount of money as
what Pedders and others would charge.

Can anyone give me some thoughts on which to put in..

Terry

Go with the Pedders.
I went from FE2 springs to Pedders in my VN V8 and the difference was amazing
(my car was fitted with FE2 from the factory).

Please note that there is more than just springs involved in the FE2 pack. i.e
shock rates, bushes etc.
The most important thing to know is the difference in rear shock length.

If you use FE2 rear springs with the stock rear shocks, the springs will NOT
be held in place at full extension.

When i bought my (new) VR i got FE2 suspension. After about 8 months, one of
the rear shocks shit itself, so i took the opportunity to upgrade (front &
rear) with Koni adjustable shocks, King springs (variable rate) & Whiteline
bushes & swaybars. The difference was unbelievable.

You should find that FE2 suspension (on the VR at least) is 1 1/2 inches
lower than standard (front & rear).

Personally, i would go with the specialised aftermarket gear, such as King or
Pedders.

Joshua.

Well yeah, that seems to be the going rate at the moment (from SSV in
Sydney). I have also checked around a number of other places and am going to
get the springs, shocks and rear bushes done all at the same time, about
$900 worth I got quoted.

Well I am getting aftermarket springs and shocks (cant tell you the brand as
of yet) but the height of the car will sit the same height as the FE2 setup.
How much did it cost you to get the whole lot done? It's costing me around
$1100, but that includes fitting a new rocker cover gasket and muffler, plus
the springs, shocks and bushes. Doesnt include swaybars though. Although I'm
sure the car will handle alot better than how it does now. (I bought the car
with the factory stock springs cut :) )

My brother got new "FE2" springs for his VK at the local Holden dealer. The "FE2"
springs came in King Spring boxes!?? Do King make the FE2 stuff?

Nathan.

Any competent springmaker can make springs to suit whatever
specification you want. All you need to do is give them the wire
diameter, coil diameter, free length, number of active coils, and end
detail, and hey presto. If you give them the dimensions of an FE2
spring, they can make you one no problemo.

I've had a few sets made by Chessell Springs in Brisbane over the last
couple of months, and they have always come back exactly as specified.
(Yes, blatant free plug).

Peter! -=DUH#14=- (Y1)

Can anyone recommend a springworks like this in Melbourne?

If you want the FE2 setup, why not pick them up from the Holden dealer? I
got quoted $60 each for the FE2 springs.
