I've had a couple fuck up now. You try to enter the seat-belt clip
into the stalk, and it wont work. It seems that they never get any
maintenance. Does anyone lubricate the buckle? With graphite or
silicon-spray? for example?

I've never needed to, but I couldn't imagine it being a problem.

Powdered graphite should be OK but don't use CRC or similar as dust and
dirt sticks to it and will make the problem worse in the long run.

Same with locks, never use CRC.

Personally, I wouldn't fuck around and would just get a new buckle...
wouldn't trust it if it's having problems latching.

If it lets go in a crash you (or your family and friends) will regret
the $30 you saved on buying a new one.

Absolutely,.once it starts to bugger up out it goes,..which is why I'm
asking whether there is a maint approach to them. From Mazda they are
in the $100s IIRC.

Silicon spray may be easier to find. It works like powdered graphite but
without the greasy residue of CRC.

Nay,..just the std arrangement.

That's great info. I use the stuff on window runners and locks. It
works very well on locks and fan-armature bushings..

If you have access to compressed air, then get a blower nozzle and blow
them out. Often it's years of accumulated crud inside the buckles that
interferes with their proper working.

Graphite would be my choice.

Definitely worth trying first.

Imagine the shit one would get into when she who must be obeyed gets graphite on her nice
white frock.

This would be my first choice. Compressed air in a can is available in
electronics shops if you don't have a compressor to hand.
