Getting after-market door (and gate) openers to work is a PITA. We have
a huge number of the things here and they always seem to play up. When
choosing an automatic door make sure you know before you buy it what
frequency it operates on so and the dip switch settings for your door.
Sounds like a silly thing but I do see funny things here. The dip switch
setting are like a combination lock unless you know beforehand you are
stuffed.
The last garage door I set up had the control unit that learnt the codes
from the remotes. Seemed fairly easy and it was a few minutes to set up
each unit. Side note, always use surge protectors on these units as they
seem overly vulnerable to power spikes. We have nasty, nasty power here
but 2 units in month with the the transformer blown is too much, one
unit had board damage as well. When the nearest service centre is 3000km
away protection is the key.
