we are being conned. we have to suffer higher electricity prices because
'evil' coal fired power stations are 'destroying the planet', while at
the same time exporting our coal to China, who build two new coal
powered plants a week. we have the cheapest coal in the world, or at
least among the cheapest. we could have cheap electricity except for the
greeny agenda. we would only need two or three plants which would not

Do tell.

In your response, address the following:

* Cite your climate science credentials, that we may accept your
hypothesis as valid.
* Cite your climate change hypothesis that explains the reasons behind
the present warming trend.
* Cite your climate change hypothesis that proves Arrhenius' theory on
human induced climate change. A theory, BTW, that was presented back in
1899 and has NEVER been successfully challenged. NOT ONCE.

They're just facts.

None of that matters, for the far right loonies it's like a religion -
they have faith that it's not real - and faith requires no evidence and
any evidence to the contrary is a conspiracy of some sort. The lefty
loonies think we can stop using oil tomorrow and we can all live on
avocados while flying the rainbow flag, dancing around in Birkenstocks
and defacing artworks while living on the dole. They're even worse.

Even most center right people accept climate change is real and there is
certainly a real debate to be had about how we go about reducing
emissions and addressing global warming - but IMO the ship has sailed
and while also doing what we can to reduce our impact we need to
seriously look at addressing what is to come in terms of changes to the
planet. It's not going away so we need to deal with it.

Mind you the next mass extinction event is likely to be caused at the
press of a button rather than climate change the way things are going in
the world.

Coal is going, regardless of politics. In WA, the mine supplying the
power station has gone bankrupt, and in spring and autumn, it is not
needed anyway, due to huge amount of solar power. In the eastern states,
the machines are old and breaking down. Nobody is going piss away money
to keep them going another 50 years.

neither. it's a hoax in the sense that we are being lied to, to make us
do things here in Australia that wont make a scrap of difference to
global warming. examples.. reduce farming because cow farts supposedly
cause global warming. ride bikes, don't drive cars, because car exhausts
cause global warming. install stupid visually polluting wind turbines,
the manufacture, upkeep, and replacement of which is environmentally
polluting, and pay higher electricity prices for the privilege. use
electric cars when their production is also environmentally polluting,
etc., etc., but having said that, I have no great interest in the
debate. I'm too old to care anymore. I just object to stupid decisions
based on an agenda, that have no benefit to us and are detrimental to
our lifestyle or finances.

I saw an interesting video showing how many supposedly disastrous
climate predictions have not come true, but I haven't been able to find
it again. so I question how much about the current scenario is fact or
fiction. the latest nonsense I just saw is that humans breathing is
causing climate change. guess we have to kill a billion or so ppl to fix
that!

Odd. Climate predictions made in the early 80s have certainly come true.
True though, getting rid of a billion or so humans will have a
noticeable effect and, between covid and recent wars, we might soon
approach that number. Unfortunately those events hinder the world's
efforts in growing food. Might be a problem down the track.

I would suggest the best course of action is to implement measures to
offset the effects of what's causing the problem, so we don't have to
change things/our lifestyle. and before you say "like what?'" that's for
the scientists and engineers to discover.

I've never studied the issue, like you obviously have. as I've said, I
just object to being told I have to do this or that, or not do this or
that, to 'save the planet' when what we're told won't make any
difference. it's been said that if every car in Australia disappeared
overnight, it would have absolutely no effect on global warming. it's
the big polluters, India, China, and the USA who need to take severe
measures, since they can make a difference, not us.

That Arrhenius' formula has accurately predicted the change
in global temperatues we have actually seen given the change

And that anything this country does will have
any measurable effect on world temperatures.

And that EVERYONE has to do something.

https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/gasoline/gasoline-and-the-environment.php

"Gasoline is a toxic and highly flammable liquid. The vapors given off
when gasoline evaporates and the substances produced when gasoline is
burned (carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter, and
unburned hydrocarbons) contribute to air pollution. Burning gasoline
also produces carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas."

**Great idea. Which planets do you have in mind?

Venus? Average daytime (and night time) temperature is 464 degrees C.
Mars? Average daytime temperature is 35 degrees C Average night time
temperature is -60 degrees C. Oh yeah, bugger all atmosphere too.

BTW: How do you propose to send large numbers of people to other planets?

Let's do some rough maths:

The only US built vehicle to visit another body in our Solar system was
the mighty Saturn V rocket. It was able to carry 3 people to the Moon.
At launch, the Saturn V burned 20 Tonnes of fossil fuel every SECOND. At
launch, the Saturn V weighed around 3,000 Tonnes. Approximately half
that mass was fuel, which was either fossil fuel (kerosene) or hydrogen.

FOR THREE PEOPLE!

Got any other ideas?

Chinese citizen emits half the CO2 pollution of the average Australian.
The average Brazillian emits roughly 1/3rd the CO2 of the average

To make himself look good and short term gain. All he did was kick the

That's what the Lieberals always do, sell shit, cause economic and
social problems and then blame Labor when their shit hits the fan.

Why?

You like making grand claims such as this Trev, but never go into detail
as to why.

Now's your chance....

ROTFL :)

When the Victorian government privatised the SEC, the Gas and Fuel
Board, and the MMBW, they were all *losing* money. As was typical of
such government operations, they were all massively over staffed,
ridiculously unproductive and were stifling building development. The
Kennet Government, who were forced to sell them after the previous Labor
government had virtually sent the state broke and sold off everything
else (Geez, anyone see a pattern here), could only do so after giving an
assurance to the buyers that they could have a free hand in sacking
thousands of staff and turning what were unprofitable government money
pits into profitable private entities.

And they did.

Only the Irish Leprignomes have remained aloof and their family
heritage remains pure and unconfused. Gnome watchers believe that the
reason for this stems from the unfortunate events that led to their
expulsion from the peat bogs of Ireland in the late 1700s. It is
thought that the ambitious Leprignomes encroached on the territorial
boundaries of the intellectually superior Leprechauns. The Grand
Legislature of Leprechauns banished the ringleaders of this audacious
uprising to Australia. As a parting gesture they cast such a powerful
spell on the Leprignomes that, even today, they remain too shy to
associate with other gnome species.

"most"? LOL.. Lara, Little River, and The Great Ocean Road arent in
Melbourne. Much closer to Geelong. Most of the car scenes were done in
the grasslands/farmland around Avalon Airport/Point Wilson and Lara. And
Clunes, the town the Toecutters men terrorised and went to the railway
station to pick up the Nightriders coffin, is about 120k NW of melb's CBD

It's the

Clocky, you obviously havent seen north and east of the city of Perth...
Suburbs of scrub, scrub, (hence the recent fires) and more scrub with
pockets of housing thrown up in the middle. Hundreds of tiny little 200
square metre house blocks with no yardspace, all made from what appears
as sandstone. Yep, not post-apocalyptic, it's current!
I agree with this wholeheartedly. Melbourne is certainly NOT the most
livable...PT is shit, roads congested, hospital and ambo waitlists
extreme, overcrowded, poor police numbers... Perth (CBD and close in
suburbs) is a lovely place, great PT, Kings Park, fishing's great (but
STILL not allowed to keep a fucking garfish!) and lots of eateries, but
too hot, too expensive and too far away from the civilised world. WA is
called Wait Awhile for good reason. From what I've seen, Brisbane would
be the winner afaic. But putting their new international cruise terminal
next to a sewerage farm? Sounds like something Dan Andrews would do!

If Melbourne wins an award like that it doesn't say much for other cities.
I think the city that often comes close to Melbourne in those awards
(sometimes wins) is Vienna, only visited there very briefly but it has
some similarities with Melbourne, a good tram network plus a mix of old
and new architecture.
I suspect that Melbourne's tram network which is the biggest in the
world helps win such awards, PT isn't too bad in the inner city but gets
progressively worse the further away from the city you get.

Can't say that I'm particularly fond of any city, each seems to have
some areas of interest, things to like, things to dislike.
I've never been to Perth (maybe this year) but I hear good things about
but to me its still just another city.
I love visiting London but I wouldn't want to live there, their PT makes
any PT anywhere in Australia look very poor yet the Poms still complain
about it, people are difficult to please.

In fact Darren proved very proficient in demonstrating his lack of a
clue with Les' engine. Not only could he not *predict* nor *diagnose*
the fault, he actually *created the problem*. A little bit of knowledge,
in Darren's case unfortunately insufficient for the task at hand, and

You say that you ran a successful business for 30 years, but we aren't
even allowed to know what sort of business it was let alone any details
