Hi folks

The aircon in my wife's Civic has suddenly stopped blowing cool air.
This has happened once before a few months ago, and on both occasions
she thought a stone/stick hitting the underneath of the car caused it
(??). That time a dealer fixed it within minutes, but avoided saying
exactly what he did, which leads me to think it may have been
something simple and a known problem with this model. We are now far
away from any dealer.

Any suggestions?

Actually I posted here a while back about the aircon failing in the
'92 Camry we had, and was told to clean the contacts of a particular
connector. That was the fix, and I had to do it every few years. So
thanks for that, and hopefully the cure this time will be as simple :)

Check for a low/high pressure cutout switch somewhere on the A/C piping and
give the connector a wriggle with the engine running and A/C on. If you hear
the compressor cut in (and possible out again) then there is your problem.

Terminals probably need to be retensioned.
