Any point in trying

Wear what you like
24 hour bus lanes are a total rip off. Do your best to get out of it.
Write a letter, say pretty much what you've written above, mention the
time of day and that there were no buses around they you could have
inconvenienced (unless the picture shows a mass pile of mangled buses
and carnage behind your car), you are sorry for your mistake, but would
like the RTA to consider giving you a bit of leniency on your first
offence. Mention good driving record and honest mistake if applicable.
You've got nothing to loose. Worst they can do is say no, in which case
pay the fine. If it gets to court chances are you'll loose as you were
technically and legally in the wrong.
Also, if you drive in unfamiliar areas often, invest in a road angel
evo. They're $300 now, $250 for NRMA members, and warn you of fixed
GovCo ca$hcams of all sorts. It'll pay itself off pretty quick in
Sydney these days.

It seems to be fairly easy to get out of bus lane fines, i've heard of
several people getting off. I think bus lanes are fairly difficult to
enforce because a driver could be turning into a driveway or something.
Michael
Just tell them a dead friend was driving, you have a choice, Peter Brock or
Steve Irwin.....
Oh dear.... did I really type that?

Refer to reply below - it also applies to you.
Do you drive with your eyes shut?

There arent a lot of driveways on the warringah
freeway.........................
Big signs...red roadway. Things in the lane that are way bigger than cars
and painted blue and white and full of people......Could be a bus lane.
Avoid...........

Not much traffic, including buses, early Saturday morning.....I still
claim I got confused, despite the earlier smart-aleck replies -
pleading letter goes out tomorrow.....
But did you find the radio station you were looking for?
Andy. (The other Andy.)

Pay the $231 fine and pay attention to the road in future.
