Greetings folks,

In early 80's corollas, a 1.3 litre engine called the 4k was fitted and to
the best of my knowledge it has

49 kw at 5000 + rpm
100 Nm at 4000 (or thereabouts) rpm

However a 'friend has recently used my blind interest of cars to offload about
three years or more worth of FF&R mags on me

some of these mention a 5k toyota engine which is of 1.5 litre capacity
apparently its a bolt in swap (same block?)

What cars did this 5k engine come in?

any figures (Kw or Torque)

is it much better than a 4k

email or post

thanks

Dave

Dave,

For ALL things Toyota go to
<http://www.students.tut.fi/~k124476/tm_index.html> .
Matti Kalalahti's Toyota page has the most complete compilation of
engine types, power, models etc anywhere on the net. Definite
bookmark.

Toyota Lite-Ace and sprinter(some had dual carbs) you will have
more luck sourcing a lite-ace though.

Has a much longer stroke than a 4K and thus more tourque but not much
more power.

I just finished sticking one in a suzi Sierra. and yes it Does go. :)

The 5K was in the Liteace in Australia (which, interestingly, is using a
pushrod 1.8 litre 7K in that current "SBV" model!).

It has better mid-range torque, but not much more power (sorry, I don't
have the figures). I believe the engine is a bolt-in, and makes the car
nicer to drive, although not particularly quick. (To decipher that, the
car is considerably quicker, but nowhere near as much as if you put, for
example, a 4AGE in it).
