My mirage needs more power (as all do ). DOes any one have any sugestions on
the bigest thing i can stick in it? Mivec is kindaa exspensive because it is
98' and the mivecs for that model are rare ATM.
Maybe an FTO 20 mivec? And no i cant afford a evo motor.

i'm really don't think the 3.5 would fit,

the smallest Mitsu V6 I know of is the 2.5L with around 140kw found in the
Japanese and NZ Diamante (Magna)

Maybe you could investigate using a 3L V6 from the old shape Magna/Verada ?
Stock it puts out 124kw and 244nm when running on PULP - but I know that you
can fit a Mitsubishi GTO turbo to that V6 (same engine in both cars).

still aren't sure that it will fit into a Mirage - or if it does how it
would handle the extra power.

Just get some Mugen/Vetec stickers and you wil gain 20-30Kw instantly.

get a grip on reality, buy a performance car if you want one.

yeah, I agree.

You can pick up a 1996 WRX for $24k from a dealer, so why not look at a
propper car with a chassie designed for performance not economy.

I understand that prehaps you want a "q" car - one that looks like it should
go significantly slower than it does. In that case I suggest (if you like
Mitsubishis) picking up a 2 or 3 year old Magna Sports and doing some
performance mods on it, yet keeping the body kit stock :)

Err, if he's looking at a proper car what on earth does a WRX have to do
with it?
;)

if he's lucky he could trade the mirage in on a
308 Holden ute, and with the leftover cash get the rust cut
out and the upholstery fixed.

Simple. A 1.8 or 2.0 litre turbo from the Lancer. It'd probably bolt
straight up to the gearbox if the mirage is anything like the FWD Lancer
(which it is).

Dam don't say the 3.5 won't fit. Its freaky but I was trying to work this
exact same thing out this morning at work, about a friends car.

why not just buy a nice car ?

3.5l v6 == $3000 (guess) + fitting

mirage = $10000, approx

$13,000 = 5 speed man / turbo / sr20 / s13 silvia or 180sx = real
performance car

Ever think they may think it is a nice car?!! Come on do you people ever
stop to think about another persons likes. Just cause you don't think its
good doesn't mean someone else can't love it.

Light car with a V6 equals good preformer too. Think about it.

thanks every one. I think I'll save for the mivec because it is an easy swap
and 127kw- as for getting a different car well, yes I thought of that (not a
magna, maybe for my grandfather - no fun at all) but my mirage has had a
hellish 80,000ks on it over three years and I had a company car for 2 of
those and the car has no problems at all - I mean I thrash the shit out of
if oversteer on entry to almost every corner and race Galston gorge twice a
week and its still has zero problems. The commodores that I drive as company
cars last maybe 3 months and then go to shit - magna maybe 4-months and I
don't drive them anywhere near as hard.
Mind you the evo engine idea is itching me:)

Have you considered the Galant GSR or VR4 motors? They're 2l twin cam and
should almost be a bolt-in affair. The VR4 is a turbo version. I bought one
to stick in my Lantra, but haven't got around to it yet.
