Hello.

Is it legal to drive Unlicenced &/or Unregistered on NSW Crown Land?

I can't find any details about this.

I know it is illegal to drive unlicenced &/or an unregistered vehicle
on NSW National Parks & Wildlife territory; or in NSW State Forests.
(In fact, NSW Police enforced this recently in some sites just last
month – http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/aboutus/news/recent-news/forests/hunter-illegal-motorcycle-blitz)

However, it is entirely legal to drive Unregistered and Unlicenced on
private property, including a farm.

Is it legal to drive Unlicenced & Unregistered on NSW Crown Land? Who
enforces NSW Crown Land laws?

Noodle.

The distinction is not based on whether the land is private or
otherwise, but on whether it is open to the public. Thus, for example,
you need to be licenced to drive in the car park belonging to Westfield
as part of one of its shopping centres.

Irrelevant.

No.

Seeing that National Parks are Crown Land

You have answered your own question with this:

Hi.

Fair enough.

I didn't know this.

I guess I was confused because NSW has NPWS-managed land (which I now
understand to also be Crown Land), State Forest-managed Land, and
separate, NSW Lands-Department-managed Crown Land which is actually
bigger than both of the above!

http://www.lpma.nsw.gov.au/about_crown_land

Thanks to Sylvia & yourself for clearing the confusion.

Many beach areas and adjacent areas require a permit and or third party
insurance.

I would guess that an unregistered (or even one that can't be legally
registered) trail bike would not be permitted on a govco trail whether the rider
was licenced or not. Which begs the question, if you don't own a farm or have
access to one, where can they be legally ridden, the backyard only?

** The answer is any private property, not generally accessible to the
public and where the owner has given the individual/s permission.

Most property owners wouldn't like the insurance implications (or costs) I'd
imagine.

** Not a big problem long as every person granted permission is under the
control of responsible adults and signs a waiver.

There are go-cart and mini bike tracks all over the place where folk from
age 5 upwards get to risk their necks.

Oran Park is ( or was? ) one.

I think it is was now. AFAIK, it stopped having events because it was
being turned into anew suburb called...... wait for it; "Oran Park"
Since the M7 went in I hav3e no eed to travel the Old Northern road any
more, so can nor be sure if it is all housing no.

Hmm, the latest satellite image from maps.google.com.au says that the
raceway, skid pan etc is still there, but the map version shows a
housing sub-division over the top of the raceway map.

Google throws up a fax number (02) 4646 1674 (Fax) if you want to
enquire.
