I got a good chuckle from this, but leave the poor chap's thing about
dresses out...it took mondo guts to admit to it, and he's not gay.
It's some kind of comfort-thing from when he used to hide in his mum's
wardrobe while his father beat the living shit out of her.

I can't say I hold 'journo's' or presenters in the best light when talking

I dont think he IS a cross dresser, I read an article about him in the
Australian Magazine a while back, and he did this when he was young because he
was psychologically fucked up by his weirdo parents. I dont think he does it

Well, I hate to say this (I agree with most of what you say), but in
regards to supercharging he is, in a lot of cases, right. Some of the
sports cars out there will hit the rev limiter in top gear. All putting a
supercharger on cars like that will do is make it get there quicker. The
car then becomes 'qicker' not 'faster'.
(just had to say it - I await the arguments on semantics now!)
That would be the rare exception. Peter Ferrett would be WRONG in the
majority of cases. If a car maxed out in top then it needs an extra gear or
taller ratio. It's a pretty rare factory car that hits the rev limiter in
top.

Have to agree. If you do hit redline in top gear, it's a good sign you either
need another gear or your final drive ratio is too low! For example, my
Celica will hit redline in 5th, but that's not really surprising since 5th
isn't very tall and the diff ratio is a very low 4.1:1 - I intend to replace
it with something more sensible one day.

Which means that if someone says something negative about someone, and that
person can prove that the comments were damaging to their reputation,
particularly if they are false alegations, particularly if they were a
deliberate attempt to damage the person, and they have suffered financial
loss, they can sue the person, in some cases the persons employer for loss
of reputation, and costs etc etc.
So if I put a post about someone or something on this newsgroup that could
damage the reputation of someone or something, normaly a product, I have to
be carefull of what I say. Everyone does really, it's just that most people
do not realise the laws that protect peoples reputations extend to Internet
newsgroups, and in some cases to email as well.
Which is one reason why I have a dislike for people who post anonomously,
because anonymous posters by their comments they make, may damage say
Powerchip's reputation without any basis whatsoever.
Or what is to stop 'ji...@hotmail.com' from posting anti Powerchip
sentiments, when Jimbo is a made up person from another performance chip
company without him giving a surname, or phone no. or real email address
that can be tracked down, that says 'Brand X performance chips are better, I
tried Powerchip and they are crap and I got ripped off.
So in answer to your question, I do remember the drink driving stuff being
publiced, but only if I was 100% sure of my facts would I leave myself open

Power Chip listed a chip for the Chrysler Neon on the website for $650
(this was removed from the site soon after I saw it) offering about
107Kw and about 198Nm compared to the stock outputs of 98kw and
178Nm......These numbers are a rough memory - but I do have a print
out of that page somewhere. How come it's not there now? How come
when people started to enquire about the chip they got told that you
guys hadn't ever seen a Neon? Would this have something to do with
the fact that there is currently no company selling a real performance
chip upgrade for a Neon on the face of this planet (OK Mopar is now
selling upgraded engine computers - but they're the home team!)
*grins* Your input would be most appreciated as I've been pondering
the question for the past year ;)

This is a simple one, when I saw your post, (after a deja news search
actually, I didnt read the newsgroup at that stage, we changed the listing
of the Neon.
We were going from overseas information, and they said a chip was possible,
and listed HP figures, so we converted it to kw and put it up on the site.
It is probably not imposible to get some power from it with engine
management cahnges, but we have not seen one in Melbourne to know what is or
is not possible.
It is free for us to inspect it and tell you what it contains, either chip
with data lookups, or processor that is not easily, (almost imposible) to
change.
BTW, do you have a web address for Mopar.
BTW, the other thing someone on the newsgroup has picked me up on is octane
ratings of fuel. I had the wrong octane ratings on a document somewhere, and
someone put up a 'these guys dont even know what the correct octane ratings
are.
I do know that the fuel in the USA is significantly better than our premium.
I've told the guy on the newsgroup with the M5 about the difference *in
reality*, but he seems to believe someone on a 1800 number in a customer
service centre that told him that the fuel quality is the same.

Wayne, I take it you're refering to me, but I didnt say that, or
anything to that effect.
>
>I do know that the fuel in the USA is significantly better than our premium.
My understanding is that our premium is equivilent the US 91 octane.
They also have another fuel which is a higher octane rating again, and
we have no equivilent to that here :-(
So while your statement is correct, the chip I bought from the US was
designed for US 91 octane, the same as our PULP

So, who do you think is better qualified to give me the answer? A
fuels analyst with Caltex, or you? No disrespect intended, but I don't
think that you can claim to be an authority on the matter!
FWIW, I have installed the chip, and its going just great. I haven't
yet detected any pinging, but its going on the Dyno next week, and
I'll check it over properly. The people in the US that I bought it
from were happy to give me a 60 day money back guarentee, and so
considering that it cast me less than one third of the price you
quoted me (including shipping), I would have been mad not to try it! I
had nothing to lose!

Impartiality? Seems to me he lost all his credabilty years ago. I think he
was doing Torque or possibly Marque at the time and was very actively
promoting safe (defensive) driving. He was particularly strong on the dangers
of drink driving (he may have also made an ad promoting the dangers of drink
driving) and then he got caught himself - drunk as a skunk behind the wheel.
Shown being escorted into court, he rather unceremoniously poked his tongue
out at the TV camera covering the event. He disaapeared for years after than
then re-appeared on H,W and W.

Fair Enuff, *grins* Would that have been a company called Jet? Their
chip has been back to back tested by a few Mopar techs, and
independant tech and a few people in the US - All returned the verdict
that the chip was not changed except for some minor hacking around the
edges - you know, name changes and number swaps but no change to maps.

I reckon there would always be some power to be found in any engine,
but it's a matter of how much time it takes to find it ;) I imagine
that it's cheaper for you guys to develop a Holden ECU becuase the
development cost can be spread over more sales,

*grins* Yeah our PULP barely matches their mid-grade fuel, it's just
be good enough for a 'mildish' yank chip I'd say as long as the engine
was knock sensor equipped..
Thanks for the answer Wayne!
Aaron! (Not a DUH!)
WHEELS did a 30 pages info-mercial on the Falcon bragging about how good it is, how well it's made,
who made it and who to thank for it etc, etc, etc ad infinitum
But Wheels track record is pretty shoddy because the last time they did a 30 page spread was for the
EA Falcon in 1988 and it only took them 3 years to start to be honest afterwards.
