Can't imagine that they will be selling all that many at that price.

Yeah, it's pretty exxy. It's also pretty massive, in terms of physical
bulk.

I've sold the engine in my Effy to a local tow truck driver who is doing
up a Customline and wants a Y-Block to keep it "period", and he asked me
seeings how I'm going "restomod" with the truck why I was fitting a
Windsor rather than something like a Coyote or some other late model
Ford V8. So I showed him this picture:

The engine on the left is a current Ford Modular V8 while the engine on
the right is a 1970 Boss 302. Both engines are 5 litre in capacity.

For the sake of some extra neddies and a few extra miles per gallon, I
like the old engine :)

Jesus that's enormous.
Put a Sniper EFI with electronic ignition on the 302 and get the best of
both worlds with it still looking semi original.

*Some* extra neddies Darren? More than some. The current beasts have 4
valves per cylinder with DOHC heads, the valves are huge high lift
beasts that are sodium filled and controlled by twin independent
variable cam timing, port *&* direct injection and so much more.

But I can see your problem - that engine is way too complex for you, too
highly tuned. 4 camshafts? You have trouble dealing with one.
Interference fit engines - no way for you Jose. You couldn't even ensure
the valves didn't hit the pistons on Les' engine - and that was even
with the cam keeping *in time*. You really screwed Les' engine, didn't
you, and all through simple negligence. Or more likely, incompetence.
Fuel injection, well, you're knackered there too.

No Darren, you're way out of your league with *any* current Ford V8.
Stick with your 70s crap, keep the world safe.

They will sell heaps of them. Crate high performance engines is all the
rage these days. If you want to achieve the same output, you'll likely
spend way more money.

And not much more power than the original had. It was, after all, a
single camshaft OHV pushrod engine of an era long gone, no
sophistication whatsoever.

They're massive, aren't they?

I'm not bothered about it looking original under the bonnet, and making
the Modular engines run isn't a big deal as they're well supported for
retrofit projects. It's just the physical bulk of the things that's a
pain. Lots of Firewall and inner guard mods to make them work, and
they're a pain in the arse when it comes to getting the steering around
them.

The little Windsor will work fine. I'll get 350hp out of it which will
be plenty, and it will sound great which is the important bit :)

The important bit is that it's vintage shit that you kinda understand.

Kinda, because we all know that your engine builds aren't even good for
a lap.

With you Darren, it's definitely a natural talent enhanced by liberal
doses of ABI. 20+ years of lies about your *fictitious* career in the
automotive industry - a natural talent for sure.

Xeno

It's his only *comfort zone* since his *trade knowledge* is, at best,
superficial. Advanced automotive technology, ie, more than two valves
per cylinder, VVT, fuel injection, and more are all way beyond his ken,
as he proved with his disastrous effort on Les' 4AGE(20) engine.

It's just what you could expect from Darren. Just like his life, his
engine only needs to sound great. Probe a little bit and you find they
are both a *sham*. How unsurprising.

What is it with American car companies that would rather their customers
die than admit there is a fault with a car.
Seems Tesla has learnt a thing or two from its fellow Americans.
Very likely the entire US car industry will soon be going extinct like
