It was a mystical black box that did something very "new age" like
aligning all the good vibes in your car to give you good karma.

Basically, it was something which nobody could prove did anything
but which Brock liked the idea of. It was the thing that was
publicised as the reason behind the Brock/Holden split, but which
was such a small thing that I don't think anyone believes it actually
was ... ;-)

Heh, yeah I read about that in a pretty good article in Motor magazine.
Brock called it "orgone" energy, or something like that.

$100, what a bargain! Does it include the metal film sticker for the rear
windscreen , and instructions on precisely where it has to be placed to
focus the cosmic energy????

Hmm, second thoughts, I wonder if it will depolarise the BiTron additive,
and confuse the Fuelstar petrol ioniser???

;)

Seriously though (!?), the 'Polariser' was a small plastic box located on
the firewall of some of the last Brock Commodores. It was filled with
epoxied in crystals and coils, and was supposed to give the whole car 'good
karma' so that it ran better, had less vibrations, needed less air in the
tyres, etc etc. There was also a metal film sticker on the rear windscreen.
I think it was a byproduct of Brock's friendship at the time with Eric
Dowker, who was into the power of crystals, cosmic energy, etc.

Holden was justifiably concerned at being connected with such an unproven
device with wierd claims about what it did, being fitted to its cars. It
was one of the reasons behind Brock's split with Holden.

The polarizer and the subsequent fallout with Holden, including a lot
of the background shitfights and the influence of Eric Dowker, are
well covered in a book by John Harvey called "The Rise And Fall Of
Peter Brock".

The polarizer was said to work on a sub molecular level, and it is so
sophisticated, it cant be explained by normal physics.

When it came out, I went to the library at Uni., and checked out the
articles that the journalists wrote that spoke of the polarizer that said it
worked. The Australian was the most positive. I cant remember the journo.
There were about 3 others that were positive.

Ahhhh, the power of PR.
