>Which is faster : a Z18 Turbo or a naturally aspirated FJ20 (non-turbo)?
Depends on what cars they are in....generally engines themselves just
sit there.
I've seen Fj20s running 230hp, but im sure that can be exceeded with a
Z18 Turbo, just turn up the boost and hope it doesnt blow up.
>How much faster?
How much money do you have?
>What else better/worse?
Turbos cost a lot more to insure, but its generally easier to get the
horsepower out of them. Why not a FJ20 Turbo?
How much faster?
What else better/worse?

Depends what you do with it. Stock, probably the Z18. Boosted -
obviously the Z18. If you work both - probably the Z18 ('cos you can
stick a Z24 2.4 litre Navara engine on the bottom-end; actually, they
might be up to Z27 by now, but that sounds way too over-bored or
over-stroked).
I think the FJ20 turbo was a pretty good engine in its' day, though;
eclipsed by the SR20, of course!
Forg.
Given that the FJ20 is a 2.0 litre it inherently has more torque,
many people forget that the FJ20 is just a scaled down version of the formula
one 1.5l engine inherently VERY strong, so strong it's the choice of the
fastest 4 in australia (austin healey)
For the Z18 this months zoom magazine shows the NIZPRO boys dato with a Z18
completely standard internals including pistons and it's pumping out 327 horse
at the fly on MOTEC's dyno.
Both have great qualities, me personally I prefer the FJ20

So the FJ20 2L is a scaled DOWN version of a 1.5L F1 engine?
When did Nissan/Datsun make an F1 engine?

Well if you up the boost on the good old Z18 u can cut anything up to
low - mid 13's in a Dat1600. Non turbo FJ20 (why bother), save up the
extra cash and get the turbo version. Alot easier to go faster.!!!!

The FJ20 is still a good engine but yes the SR20 is newer and has good
design and power.
