Do you think this is a good deal? Hubby had a huge fall today, dislocated a
finger, busted a couple of ribs, bruised shoulder, sore arm ( no I am not
laughing but if he had done a circuit with me he would be ok now! LOL )
Anyway, he bent his seat, and we found one on Ebay - what do you think?

It is exactly the same as the one he bent and he is very comfortable with
it.

Not bad, if it goes for around that price. Local price seems to be
$140ish, but you can get them OS for around $50 (wiggle has them, they're
the first I happened to check). Freight is the killer there, but freight
from the UK generally isn't bad, and a lot of places will ship free over a
certain price.

My favourite saddle. I have several on road bikes and MTBs. RRP is around $90
overseas, a lot more in ripoff Australia. If you are not the winner of this
auction, www.wiggle.co.uk has them in a large number of colours at $80AUD and if
you can find a few other little bits and pieces to get your spending up to
$92AUD(50 quid) you get FREE postage.

If hubby can do without the CrMo rails and kevlar sides,
www.moruyabicycles.com.au always has the SDG Bel Air RL of identical shape but
with plain steel rails for $40AUD. It seems they are takeoffs from new bikes.
Goodness knows what the original purchasers find not to like about this saddle.
I do wish hubby a speedy recovery.

Well, maybe, but I saw a chick with a Brooks saddle last week and had "yearnings".
I had a Brooks once and still think about them.

My best bike now has a Selle Italia Aero on it, and the second best has a Terry STI
(blokes version). In terms of comfort, the Terry is better, but it is a fair bit heavier
(several hundred grams)...

But the Brooks still gives me goosebumps and real comfort.

<insert recumbent sniggering about DF saddle "comfort" here>

Although even a weightweenie's carbon seat for a 'bent is going to
weight a bit more than a Brooks.

:-) Perhaps I should have said my favourite *inexpensive* saddle at $40 a pop
from Moruya Bicycles, though the Brooks B17 very basic model can be had for
under $100. from Wiggle. The only thing wrong with Brooks is the break-in period
and the weight of the things.

In my original reply I forgot to spam my personal bike blog all over
aus.bicycle. If you go there http://sladepointbike.blogspot.com you can scroll
down a bit and see my $15 Giant from the garbage tip (the Yellow Terror) with a
Brooks B17 on it.

I was in a lift the other days with a woman plus her bike. Nice tourer with a B17.
Just thought "great" and we had a good chat. Maybe I'll find a Brooks seat again.
My Terry seat is pretty good. The Selle Italia Aero is an older model with a
diamond shaped hole (rather than the more modern long oval. AND it has
retro (Brooks inspired) copper rivets. It feels pretty good too, but memories
of an old leather seat still linger.

Yikes. Affordable luxury!

We were outbid - right up to the final second that seat was ours for $34
which I think was a good prize and then this #$##$^$^$ put in a bid for
$45.50 and that was it! Our first and final try at Ebay lol... I can now see
how easy it would be to get hooked. Anyway we will find a cheaper seat than
that on the net I am sure. Meanwhile Hubby is out on the MTB again tonight
to see if he can add to his injury list. Better that than a couch potato I
guess
