I have come across a new Avanti Hurricane mountain bike for $675. Is it a good
entry level bike? Is it a good price?

Thanks in advance

Rob

I am also looking to start with a Hurricane. The best quote I have got is
$500. I believe Avanti currently has a sale on Hurricanes and the RRP is
now $545.00, so you shouldn't be paying any more than that.

I reckon that we start up an FAQ, and we make this question the
first one.

(There would have been about 10 or so posts of this question since
the start of the year....)

Short answer is, everyone that I know who has bought one is happy, and
I'm happy with my now-two-year-old Barracuda.

I forgot to mention that it had RST 261 front shocks. The price without shocks
was about the $540 mark.

Anyway, I ended up buying it, but haven't really had a chance to ride it yet.

Sounds like you are putting it to it's ideal use. :-)

(Sorry - I couldn't resist - just ride)
