Info wanted on Technicomps, Genesis, & Alchemy frames.

Owing to the recent demise of my Technicomps' Bigfoot
frame, by way of a mighty crack halfway around the
downtube, I am looking for a new frame, and after some
info.

A summary is that it looks like my warranty is worth
stuff all and I'm up for at least $500 to replace it.

Here's what I know currently:

* Technicomps' frames were made in SE QLD by Technicomps.

* When I bought my frame I was told it had "a lifetime
guarantee"

* Genesis, another SE QLD bike frame company, bought out
Technicomps, but use Technicomps' premises and phone numbers.

* Genesis do not honour the warranties of the Tech. frames,
in the words of the guy I spoke to
"...they're all a load of junk the lot of them,
I took a trailor load to the tip a couple of weeks ago"

* Genesis referred me to a company in Sydney who have
something to do with the name Technicomps

* Company in Sydney is an agent for Genesis frames and do
not manufacture frames, they *do* however do an "at cost"
swap of old Technicomps frames to new ?Genesis I guess?
frames. (circa $500 quoted)

* Noone knows of a Genesis agent in Melbourne, and from
their approach I'm not sure I want to deal with them.

* I've been quoted a reasonable price on a replacement
"Alchemy" frame from a local company.

Questions:

1) Anyone else (especially in Melbourne) had to try and
replace their Technicomps' frame under warranty.

2) Anyone know or have a Genesis frame, or info about.

3) Anyone know or have an Alchemy frame, or info about.

4) Why do I have a soft spot for Australian made
Aluminium frames?

I guess that number 4 is the hardest to answer, but I'll
leave it in there anyway.
