Hi,

new to the group and looking at replacing an old road bike with a new
mountain bike to commute to work daily and then a ride in a national park on
the weekend. I envisage low weekly km (<200). Two bikes I have looked at
for less than $800 are the Trek 4300 and the Apollo LSX 1.2.

I am leaning towards the Trek, mainly because the bike shop is only 500m
away from home! ANy comments or advise on which is the better product would
be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Duncan.

Hi Duncan,

A couple of months ago I bought a 2002 model Diamondback Sorrento Sports MTB
which has Shimano Acera front and Alivio rear end componetary giving me 24
gears in all.

Frame is Aluminium with large tubing and adjustable front shocks. My only
gripe would be the seat is a little too hard for my rear end , and the
handlebars being a little too low. need higher stem...but everyone is
different. It's a great bike. but not for sale...sorry lol.

I beleive this bike to be good value for money at $799 retail. I bought
mine in Liverpool.Sydney. ABC bike shop. adjacent to liverpool stn.
Just thought I'd throw in another brand for you to ponder.........might be
worthwhile.

Regards and safe cycling
