The world's largest airlines group is close to backing one of its
members in the launch of an offshoot as a third Australian carrier.
Delegates from a conference in Shanghai of Star Alliance airlines
indicated that the job could go to Singapore Airlines or possibly Air
New Zealand.

[Air New Zealand already had a domestic airline operating in
Australia. It was called Ansett.]

Well ANZ would certainly get the public support :)

I doubt it, after the way they handled the Ansett crisis.
I know many an Ansett supporter who would like to see Garry Toomey burn in
hell.

the big airline plugging the ansett gap is Qantas.
based on counting the number of aircraft joining finals just above me.
The big Q wins by a long shot ...and in ex ansett whitetails as well!
good on em.

and here I was thinking that Virgin was the 'third' airline..silly me..
BTW, when are Virgin going to get to use the erstwhile Ansett terminal in
Perth?

Is this interpreter thing for the incomprehensible Trevor Fenn to be
an ongoing role for you breach?

Ahhh - there you are.

Simply indicating my dissatisfaction with your alter ego repeatededly
leaping in with his own explanations of the supposed motive for some
of your recent mystifying posts. Somewhat understandable I suppose
since you haven't responded yourself.

And especially (as I've already explained) breach's completely
inaccurate hypothesis of what it was that you really meant in the
China Airline 747 Down thread.

And where I've already suggested you were either wasting our time and
bandwidth or else understood little of actual NTSB investigation
processes.

Oh, and BTW - I'm sure you'll have already noted the number of reports
confirming the accuracy of my initial post in the CA 747 Down thread
which triggered your above response.

But please - if I've misjudged you as a flippant smartarse then go
ahead and dispel these suggestions and perhaps explain just what it
was that you really meant by "And just how many major accident teams
do you think there are?"

Simple, given that SR111 and TWA800 happened within about 200 miles of each
other it stands to reason that the investigation team was sent from the
same NTSB field office thus is likely to consist of the same team members.

There is nothing Conspiratorial about that.

As to why they went to the China crash, the Washington DC office is
probably the closest to China.

Anything else?

If you like - since I'm unable to discern anything in your latest
replies to throw any light on your original question above.

But noting that since I had never suggested there was anything
conspiratorial you've obviously misread my intial post on some way.

You don't seem to understand me - and I'm damned if I can fathom what
you were on about so I'll plead to being thick and leave it at that.
If you like :-)

I do remember a news item in the Sydney Daily Telegraph, saying that AirNZ and SIA were
discussing options
about taking over Ansetts old routes.
