I s'pose probably I should pull my finger out and buy another airfield guide
besides ERSA ... what do people recommend, the AOPA one???
Thanks,
Dom
I have just turned the place upside down to hunt for my NSW Country airport
guide. Can't find it.
From memory:
About 800 metres long (might be a 1000), roughly northerly aspect. Owned by
Byron Bay Council. Grass. Landing fees apply with an honesty system. About
14 kays out of town. Used by ultralights and parachutists. One time I landed
there the gun club was shooting clay pidgeons over the strip (I kid thee
not!!!). Permission is required from the council to land there, and I would
get it for insurance purposes if for nothing else - however I think people
just drop in all the time - literally.
There are some trees at the northern end that command some respect when
landing and taking off. There is also a nudist beach at the northern end but
methinks that you will be too busy on the approach to check it out... ;-)

Shades of the Royal Aero Club of NSW Gun Club.
Interesting when 36 was in use...
