For those of you in Newcastle you would have seen/heard news this morning
that Belmont Airport is set to be sold off as housing and Aeropelican
relocated to Williamtown.

They are talking of having Aeropelican flights to Maitland from Williamtown,
from Newcastle it would take longer to drive to the airport then directly to
Maitland.

The locals are running a petition on the address below if you are
interested.

You can log onto http://www.petitiononline.com/aero2425/petition.html and
petition LMCC (Lake Macquarie City Council) and the NSW State Government to
either purchase or try and keep this service open to the public.

Damn right!

Cranky old bastard.... Only landed there once (C172) - my grandfather
had a house at Warner's Bay. On approach there are these humungeous white
crosses on the grass beside the bitumen strip. Ok - no prob - maybe there's
been lots of rain and those areas are boggy. So landed on the bitumen as
planned anyway.

Well!

Hadn't even shut down when I start getting this serve thru the open 172
window! "Whaddya mean by landing on the bitumen? Don't you know that's
only for take-offs? It's people like you.."

- and so on - the full blown rant.

Blardy hell. When he paused for breath 15 mins later after I had shut down
and tied down, I dared to suggest if he wanted to keep people off his bloody
bitumen he should put the bloody crosses ********ON******* the bloody
bitumen............

Like I said - cranky old bastard...................
