I am keen on purchasing a 68cm TV, and have been focussing on the 68cm Tau
(50Hz). Is there any TV in the $1700 price range that would be a better buy
than this?

Just as a matter of interest, you might want to check out the prices at Dick
Smith for these things. (I personally own a 68 tau, and I think it's great).

They just seem to have them for better prices than anywhere else at the
moment.

I'd suggest looking at the bottom of the range Loewe Profil. 68cm 4:3 set,
50Hz, 16:9 mode, composite, s-vid and RGB. And you might save yourself a
wad of cash :)

Depends on what you like. Personally I prefer the Loewe models for
appearance. They are slim-looking, sleek, pure black and understated. I
think the modern Japanese sets are garish and ugly (the silver ones at
least).

Not that I know of. I've seen it and it looks bril. Although it does on
the 100Hz 4:3 models. Whatever you do, do not buy a 100Hz 4:3 Loewe set.

May I ask why not to buy a Loewe 100Hz 4:3 set? Is it because of the price,
chassis or is there any disadvantages if you do buy one? Reason being is
that's what i'm looking at getting the Loewe Profil... Any suggestions or
information would be appreciatted...
