The AARNet mirror also carries the excellent Linux Administrators
Security Guide - thouroughly reccomended reading.

perhaps. however, there are a lot of other files and updates in there
which are not 500M.
if you are quoting messages, you might want to consider trimming
the content - it's generally polite to do so when you're adding
your $0.02 to a post (especially when your ratio is about 1:100
in content :-)

True... but if ya can't get the 500mb what's the use of the small ones ? :-(

Sorry...just a bad habit

Um, if you don't want to download the 500+M CD ISO, then you can upgrade
components of your system piece by piece. The difference? The ISO has
the entire system, the "small ones" are just the applications that require
updating.
Ncftp has autoresume. That ameliorates the problem of download cutoffs.
I wish the mirror.aarnet.edu.au server had rsynch installed. Then I could
download updates to a package without having to download the whole package.

I imagine Marc Andreessen transported to a sysiphean hell with an
Internet-connected computer and told the key to his escape is hidden in one
of a million million web pages, everyone one of them crammed with
unnavigable frames, animated GIFs and blinking text. If he ever finds it,
he will discover the page requires a plug-in not available for his
operating system.
