While I agree that fullscale war is not the solution, they cannot simply let
the matter rest. That would invite every other maniac with a grudge to stage
similar attacks... This is what units such as Delta and Seals were created
for...

I had to look at this twice -- in what way have recent events
become more terrible than say, the American Civil War or
the Vietnam War, or say, hmm, the bombing of Hiroshima, or a heap
of other low points in American History? Oh yeah, those things aren't
on TV right now and history is whatever it needs to be in order
to get the job done right?

By all means lament the wrongs of the world but when you mention
history, try to keep some approximate sense of proportion.
