Greetings,
I am the owner of cobra #34, I have an Edelbrock 4 barrel carburettor installed on the car. Currently it has the air cleaner that came with the carb that says Edelbrock on it. It looks really out of place.
What are your thoughts?
I would like to know if I can replace it with an air cleaner that has the COBRA logo imprinted on it.
Will there be an issue with an air cleaner  that has a bigger oval (21inches long and 10 inches wide) and hitting the hood.

Thank you in advance for the shared information

Regards,
Rich

Richard.....a good air cleaner that fits and looks great is similar to the original Cobra 289 cars. They can be found on eBay, listed under 63-4 Falcon and Fairlane HiPo air cleaners. Nice looking, chrome top etc. The HiPo Mustang air cleaner is similar and much cheaper but not the same as the original Cobra units. I am not aware of a round style air cleaner that has Cobra on it but others might chime in with a fit for you. Good luck with your hunt. Bob

Hi Richard,
I own Aurora Mk. II #153.  This is what I used.
Best of luck with your project.

Once again this is what I think and I've always been a safe distance from genius.

On plugs , It's just an old 302 without much of the H/O part so plugs are like a chevy vs Ford argument . Now a lot of guys swear by Champion and they are made in USA so that's what I use . Now as far as heat range take a look at how old plugs are burning and decide if you want to go colder or hotter  ( X reference whatever plug you have against Champion numbers and make sure you see how Champion numbers their plugs ) .

As far as Air cleaner anything that will fit on a 1980 302 will sit on engine . But as far as any performance goes you really need a fresh air intake especially considering how hot under hood temps get on the Aurora . This is my home-made solution that's not so pretty but works well .

My focus is on performance and costs . The beauty of the Aurora to me was you could modify how you liked rather than worry about being original , but that's me .

Plus an "AC "logo is much more interesting than the very over abused Cobra logo

Too all that replied, thank you for the information and advice.

I have been reviewing the implications of accessive heat in the engine compartment.
I like the idea of a fresh air intake as the larger delta of temp certainly give a better boost to performance.
That adds another level of complexity to my search or modification.

Thank you all again for the input.

Regards to all of you,

Rich

I looked pretty hard and never found a small housing with Cobra on it. I bought a very inexpensive polished one off ebay and then painted it with the same wrinkle finish as the covers. Decent size air cleaner and fits well.

Hey Vince,

Not sure which version you are referring to but if it's the oval like I used:
