RESPONSE TO TARUN PURI'S Lifts power switched off due to Rain aka GOD HELP UTOPIA!

Tarun, vide trailing response from him, - and many others like him - can, due to “superior” knowledge – be it in “infrastructure” and forensic engineering, - that they claim to possess, state (glibly) as under:

With regards to the lift rooms being on the roof top, yes, they are, I don't know if it's an issue of water seepage in the lift rooms or the shaft and water collecting in the basement at the bottom of the shaft, so reason behind lifts going out of order not known

And that indeed, more than any other reason, is the bane of Utopia – namely, we have “volunteers” ever so willing to do community service – and, in the process, and in the garb of voluntary service, to justify that all is well – that they forget to get their hands soiled and pants wet/dirtied, as I do, to get to the root of all plumbing problems!

Scroll down for documentary evidence on how very in bad shape, and VULNERABLE, (due to poor workmanship, substandard materials, and penny pinching during periodic repairs) are, the vertical walls of overhead tanks and the roofs of many a Lift hoisting room.

Without boring the reader with technical details, do take note of the perfunctory manner in which repairs in the lift hoist room(s) are done, - so very superficially, that major bursts are bound to occur, at periodic intervals due to such cosmetic repairs undertaken by EIPL as per a mutually agreed “snag list” of sorts and their :mutually agreed” solutions with Mr Anil Kapur as the Chief of post HoTo Maintenance!

Yes I have and have been following up to try and get it fixed, that's the time I could devote to it.

My following up is directly with the maintenance team did not copy all or the group.

Also, can see that the portion of the wall has been re plastered, assuming they are waiting for it to dry fully and then fix the machine, my issue is that it should not be left hanging the way it is.

As for whose cost and to what effect? Did not have time to get to this point. If you have, please pursue and see if you can pitch in to try and get things fixed / working. I feel that will help.

With regards to the lift rooms being on the roof top, yes, they are, I don't know if it's an issue of water seepage in the lift rooms or the shaft and water collecting in the basement at the bottom of the shaft, so reason behind lifts going out of order not known, I believe it's done as a precautionary measure for some reason, which am also assuming is on some chart to get fixed at some point.

There is lots to do guys and it's not going to all get done over night, different seasons bring about different issues. What I do know is that everyone on the RWA and committees are trying to do their best to keep things moving towards a better tomorrow. The road is not an easy one. Time on hand is limited.

Join the team on the job, it's voluntary and will also give volunteers much more insight as they will be working closely on all issues in front of Utopia.

Cheers,

Tarun Puri

From your response, one can make out that you agree there are structural issues.

Work may be in progress but at whose cost and to what effect?

Have you see the basement access gate of our tower, the magnetic part that's hooked to the ceiling has been out of order for so many days. May be some one complained and the ceiling was plastered to hook back the magnetic part, but unfortunately it came out the same day and is again hanging. Just shows you the quality of repair- if such a simple thing cannot be fixed how can one expect the structural changes to be fixed forever.

Cheers!

it's not really difficult to get these answers, just take a walk through the basement during such a down pour and you will see for yourself I.e. Get the answers.

I've done that, so have no questions on this, believe it's already in planning to fix some or all such issues of water seeping in.

And until issues don't get completely fixed, what choice does one have other than taking precautionary measures. Just wondering.

Cheers,

Tarun Puri

Bang on! How is the internal shaft getting affected by "rain" outside? Members should know about the defect in the structure.

Vikas,

Thank you for clarifying that the lifts were made idle as a precautionary measure due to heavy downpour.

I fail to umderstand what has a downpour that happen "outdoors" got to do with a lift and lift shaft which is "internal" to a building structure. Unless, there are snags in the building structure causing water to leak / seep into the lift and lift shaft.

Could you please share with members the exigency today that caused Estate Management to take such a call; What was the reason for taking this precautionary step?

Since this decision to swith off a utility is to be taken only in extreme situations, who from AURA was involves in approving this planned exercise.

Dear Residents,

Good Day,

As the AURA Secretary is away, I am posting this information regarding lifts under his advice:-

//

The power of various lifts in our complex was switched off today early morning by the Estate Management as a precautionary measure to avoid any damages to the same due to heavy downpour.

There was some communication gap which will try to rectify at the earliest.

Re-sending, by way of abundant caution, the trailing mail, for the pointed personal attention of the above named dignitaries of the current BoM etc. in acknowledgment of the valiant efforts put in by the current maintenance team to “educate” or to “misguide” (as deemed fit) the aam admi amongst the community into silence.
