Waterville Area Birding Enthusiast & Friends,
Starting January 14th, this year we will meet on Wednesdays from 11:30 am - 1 pm in the lobby of the Schupf Center in downtown Waterville probably through March.
Sorry about the late notice, but I have just received confirmation about the location for our winter lunch and learn series. The Schupf Center is the building with the large glass windows bordering Castonguay Square. It is also the building with the film center and on the 2nd floor has the crosswalk that connects to the Opera House.
We will likely meet on the west side of the lobby where you can see Main Street close to where they sell movie tickets. Occasionally when no activity going on in one of the art rooms, we may get permission to meet there.
When the weather is gorgeous, we may at noon head out to a nearby outside location to do a little birding and will leave latecomers a note! We are within walking distance of the Head of Falls where a Northern Mockingbird may still be seen, Mergansers and Goldeneyes are often on the river and Bald Eagles and sometimes a Peregrine Falcon make their presence known.
There is a high-end coffee shop in the center, popcorn and candy upstairs in the film center lobby and several restaurants, pastry and candy shops on Main Street. Often there are parallel parking spots on Main Street, angle parking around the square and public parking-lots behind Main Street businesses.
In April we will begin again our weekly bird walks in Central Maine, in May we will join ABC in their merry month of migration birding and June restart weekly walks.
I will likely attach in each notice my current list of birding and tree identification videos. Several of us this year are hoping to get a little better at figuring out what trees and shrubs the birds are in when trying to tell someone else where to look!
