This winter's (December 20, 2025) Augusta Christmas Bird Count had relatively low numbers of species seen, the lowest for the Augusta CBC since 2013. All of us together saw 47 species on count day. This was a typical number of species on the CBC in the 1990s. We tallied 9718 individual birds. There were notably low numbers of American Robin, American Tree Sparrow, Canada Goose, and Common Goldeneye. We had another record high year for Eastern Bluebird.

Some cool birds seen included a Gray Catbird, the 5th ever on our count, the first Red-winged Blackbird since 2014, and a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker as a count-week species. The table below shows all the species and numbers.
