Film Screening for Central Maine Birders: Listers at MFC on Feb 19th

Hello all,

I hope you are doing well in this cold season!

I'm writing with a "save the date"! On Thursday, February 19th at 6:00pm, at the Maine Film Center in Waterville, we will be screening Listers--an irreverent romp of a docu-comedy about two brothers who decide to do a Big Year with no prior birding experience. (You can read more about the film here.) We may delight in, wince at, and envy their bird-journey all at once!

The film will start at 6:00pm (its run time is 1h 59min) and we aim to have some brief time for discussion/reactions in the cinema afterward. The screening is designed to bring our central Maine birders, including some Colby birders too, together for a fun evening reprieve during the dark winter! It is sponsored by the Center for Arts and Humanities and the "Thinking With Animals" Public Humanistic Inquiry Lab.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to give you a heads up that Maine Film Center ran into some issues with the licensing chain-of-command for Listers, but I'm happy to share that the show will go on! 

The screening of Listers is being replaced by Birders: The Central Park Effect. This is a documentary about the wild birds--and dedicated birders--who populate Central Park in New York City. See the trailer here. Same day, same time, and if you already registered for Listers you still have a ticket but it's for Birders now. (Maine Film Center should also reach out to ticket holders about this change, and give you an option to return your ticket if you no longer want your seat.) 

It may be welcome news that this film is only an hour! Plenty of time for dinner after and then bedtime :) I hope it's still of interest to you and that I get to see many of you there!
